yes, looks obsolete (and indeed there are some more pages that mention
installation that make no sense now that we have minimals as a reference)

which context: /usr/bin/context.

I'm not sure what to add to the path. So far, I've added

  That's not what you want. You should use the location of your TeX
Live 2011 pretest installation, which you apparently know, but:

> PATH=$PATH:/usr/local/texlive/2011/bin/x86_64-linux

  Put it at the *beginning* of your PATH variable! Each directory in
the PATH is examined in order for executables, which means in your case
that, since /usr/bin is obviously part of the default PATH, your shell
finds /usr/bin/context and stops searching there. Hence it executes
/usr/bin/context and does not see your new installation.

changing TEXMF for a texlive is probably asking for problems

I got the following error message:

This is BibTeX, Version 0.99d (TeX Live 2011)

I couldn't open style file cont-no.bst

I'm skipping whatever remains of this command
I found no style file---while reading file bibtest.aux
(There were 2 error messages)

I don't know, why it doesn't find 'cont-no.bst'. It is in the standard
folder: /home/context/tex/texmf-context/bibtex/bst/context.

bibtest.aux contains:

\citation{*}
\bibstyle{cont-no}

This appears to be the original source:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms531172(v=vs.85).aspx

According to http://www.cs.tut.fi/~jkorpela/www/justify.html
text-justify is a Microsoft extension, and it's not listed in
http://www.w3.org/TR/CSS/ . So only Internet Explorer users can
experience the incredible sophistication of having their text
letterspaced :-).

Hey Aditya. That's pretty convuluted and a bit too much for one or two
words of Sanskrit in a document. I think I'll hold off until there is
native straightforward support. Thanks anyways.

[NTG-context] tex file as input (was: bad argument #1 to 'gsub')

2011-06-24 Thread Reviczky, Adam
Hi

Here's a minimal example to follow up:
http://www.ntg.nl/pipermail/ntg-context/2011/060169.html

(having some "file.tex" in folder "test")

\starttext
\input test/file
\stoptext

gives:
! LuaTeX error .../ctx/tex/texmf-context/tex/context/base/data-env.lua:234: bad
argument #1 to 'gsub' (string expected, got nil).
system > tex > error on line 2 in file input.tex: LuaTeX error ...

Tested on minimals 2011.06.24 16:57.

Using "\input test/file.tex" works though.

I tried adding the extension suffix and it's still busted. =(

Hey Adam, it works with the .tex suffix. I can remove that tomorrow or
whenever that's patched. In the mean time, it's not a big deal to work
around.

However, I have a question about one of the component files you edited,
Source/Preface/Preface.tex. This is what yours looks like:

\startcomponent Preface
\product Handbook

\startchapter{Preface}
Foo

\stopcomponent

This is what mine looked like:

\startchapter{Preface}
Foo

ConTeXt ingests both of them without problem. Is there any reason for
the more verbose method you gave?

ah, an obsolete feature, I'll remove it (there is so much tracing
nowadays under tracker and directive control that this flag makes not
much sense any more).

Re: [NTG-context] beta

2011-06-24 Thread Otared Kavian
Hi Hans,

Updating through the minimals to the latest beta (ConTeXt version 2011.06.25
01:48) presents a few problems:

1) mkii does not work anymore: typesetting

\starttext
Hello Hans!
\stoptext

results in
sh: /context-minimal/tex/texmf-context/scripts/context/ruby/texexec.rb:
Permission denied

2) There is now a problem with \footnote: for instance with mkiv

\starttext
\chapter{Testing a chapter\footnote{Actually for testing footnotes in a chapter
header\dots}}

\section{Testing a section\footnote{Actually for testing footnotes in a section
header\dots}}
\stoptext

does not show the footnote numbers in the footnotes area.

3) In mathmode with some fonts some arrows are not showed: example with mkiv

\setupbodyfont[libertine,12pt]
\starttext
 \startformula L : E \longrightarrow F, \qquad x \mapsto f(x),
\stopformula
\stoptext

While talking about maths and mkiv, the issue I reported about bounds of
integrals is still present.

Best regards: OK
