Re: [NTG-context] Hyphenation errors (again or still) in recent mkiv

2016-08-01 Thread Jan Willem Flamma
Hi Pablo,

I wasn’t aware of the \hyphenatedword feature. Thanks for sharing.

I used an online hyphenation tool (English US) because it’s too tricky for me
too!
Using English UK the words maintenance and integrated are indeed correctly
hyphenated. So I jumped to conclusions there.

What remains is that ‘schematic' is incorrectly hyphenated as 'sc-hematic’.
Another example is the word ‘cards’, which I see hyphenated as 'ca-rds’ but I’m
unable to reproduce it in a MWE for now.

Regards,
Jan Willem

Hi Jan Willem,

are patterns for Brittish English better?

   \starttext
   \hyphenatedword{schematic, maintenance and integrated
   beginning procedure adequately style}

   \uk\hyphenatedword{schematic, maintenance and integrated
  beginning procedure adequately style}
   \stoptext

Sorry, but English hyphenation is too tricky for me.

Just in case it helps,

Re: [NTG-context] Randomize control points in metapost/metafun?

2016-08-01 Thread Hans Hagen

On 8/1/2016 8:03 AM, Mikael P. Sundqvist wrote:

Hi!

I look for a way to randomize control points of a path, leaving the
coordinates themselves untouched.

The reason is the following: I want to draw (for example) a circle
with a triangle inside, and I want them to look slightly randomized.
If I do (see attached pdf for a typical result of this)

\startMPpage
draw fullcircle scaled 2cm randomized 0.1cm;
draw ((1cm,0)--(0,1cm)--(-1cm,0)--cycle) randomized 0.1cm;
\stopMPpage

then the corners of the triangle does not stay on the circle (and I
want them to). [I dont want the triangle to consist of perfectly
straight lines, so I cannot (directly) draw the triangle using
different points along the randomized circle] I imagine that one could
achieve what I want if one could randomize the control points only.

i'll add

primarydef p randomizedcontrols s = (
if path p :
for i=0 upto length(p)-1 :
 (point   iof p) .. controls
((postcontrol iof p) randomshifted s) and
((precontrol (i+1) of p) randomshifted s) ..
endfor
if cycle p :
cycle
else :
(point length(p) of p)
fi
else :
p randomized s
fi
) enddef ;

Also, is it possible to randomize a picture (consisting of several
paths/points) somehow, without randomizing each part of it manually?

so:

vardef mfun_randomized_path(expr p,s) =
for i=0 upto length(p)-1 :
 (point   iof p) .. controls
((postcontrol iof p) randomshifted s) and
((precontrol (i+1) of p) randomshifted s) ..
endfor
if cycle p :
cycle
else :
(point length(p) of p)
fi
enddef;

vardef mfun_randomized_picture(expr p,s) =
save currentpicture ;
picture currentpicture ;
currentpicture := nullpicture ;
for i within p :
addto currentpicture
if stroked i :
doublepath pathpart i randomizedcontrols s
dashed dashpart i
withpen penpart i
withcolor colorpart i
withprescript prescriptpart i
withpostscript postscriptpart i
elseif filled i :
contour pathpart i randomizedcontrols s
withpen penpart i
withcolor colorpart i
withprescript prescriptpart i
withpostscript postscriptpart i
else :
also i
fi
;
endfor ;
currentpicture
enddef ;

primarydef p randomizedcontrols s = (
if path p :
mfun_randomized_path(p,s)
elseif picture p :
mfun_randomized_picture(p,s)
else :
p randomized s
fi
) enddef ;

with

draw fullcircle scaled 2cm randomizedcontrols 0.1cm;
draw ((1cm,0)--(0,1cm)--(-1cm,0)--cycle) randomizedcontrols 0.1cm;

draw image (
draw fullcircle scaled 2cm ;
draw ((1cm,0)--(0,1cm)--(-1cm,0)--cycle);
) randomizedcontrols 0.1cm ;

Hi Hans,

With mkiv version 2016.07.18 16:46 the following errors occur: wo-uld (line 6),

I mentioned some more errors in my original mail, see above.

Sad :(

Do you have any suggestions for some software with a nice interface to

(Ideally someone would adapt the software used by gmane, but
apparently that's a non-trivial task.)

Wow! That was fast! I just updated and it indeed works as expected.

I hate to ask another thing when I just got this fast and nice help,
but is there also a way to change the control points in such a way
that no _new_ sharp corners occur?

Hi Hans,
I'm afraid I'm lost here.
When I copy what you write you get and paste it into my example I still get,
with Verdana 10 pt, no hyphenation errors with mkiv version 2015.10.09 21:28
and some with mkiv version 2016.07.18 16:46: marv-elous and di-scriminate.

So doesn't it show that at least the two mkiv-versions differ in this respect
and that when using the new version something extra or different has to be done
in the setups to get the correct hyphenations?
Fortunately I still have kept some of the older ConTeXt-versions, so my project
will not suffer from hyphenation error. But I suspect that reliance on older
versions should not have to be necessary.

Best regards,
Robert Blackstone

On windows the hyphenation is correct, I just updated context and
tested.

(I get errors in the example with the simplefonts module, probably I
didn't update the module correctly).

I used an online hyphenation tool (English US) because it’s too tricky
for me too!
Using English UK the words maintenance and integrated are indeed
correctly hyphenated. So I jumped to conclusions there.

What remains is that ‘schematic' is incorrectly hyphenated as

Another example is the word ‘cards’, which I see hyphenated as
'ca-rds’ but I’m unable to reproduce it in a MWE for now.

[NTG-context] Changing decimals points to Persian ones via font features

2016-08-01 Thread Mohammad Hossein Bateni
Dear list,

I want to add a customized font feature to the math font, to automatically
change the decimal point (unicode 0x2E) to the Arabic/Farsi version
(unicode 0x66B). This will go well with the mapping from Latin digits to
Farsi digits (done in a sample with mathdigits fallback).

For instance, I want to code in $123.45$ and get a result like ۱۲۳٫۴۵.
However, I do not want to simply map 0x2E to 0x66B, because then "full
stop" outside a number will also change. In particular, I'd like to have
the mapping only when full-stop is preceded and succeeded by a digit. This
will, among other things, leave the end-of-equation periods unchanged.

Here is how I tried to achieve it.

\startluacode
digits = { 0x30, 0x31, 0x32, 0x33, 0x34, 0x35, 0x36, 0x37, 0x38, 0x39 }
-- 0x66B instead of 0x2F gives an error!
replacements = { [0x002E] = { 0x2F } }
fonts.handlers.otf.addfeature {
  name = "mpf",
  type = "chainsubstitution",
  lookups = { {
type = "multiple",
data = replacements,
  } },
  data = {
rules = {
  {
current = { { 0x002E } },
after   = { digits },
before  = { digits },
lookups = { 1 },
  }
}
  }
}
\stopluacode

\definefontfeature[mathperiod][mpf=yes]

\resetfontfallback [mathdigits]
%\definefontfallback[mathdigits][dejavusansmono][digitsextendedarabicindic][check=yes,force=yes,offset=digitsnormal]

\definefontsynonym
[MathRoman][name:modern][features={math\mathsizesuffix,mathperiod},goodies=lm-math,fallbacks=mathdigits]

\starttext
$123.45.$

123.45.

\addff{mathperiod}
123.45.
\stoptext

Though this font feature works outside math, it does not seem to have any
effect within the math font. Why is that? Can we add font feature to the
math font? Are the character codes different?

Notice that I could not get it to work, so I commented out the fallback for
Persian digits, to make things simpler. To get the proof of concept, I am
trying to change period to forward slash (see below).

Is the syntax I use for having two features in \defontfontsynonym correct?
Actually, I did try with only mathperiod and it does not work, either.

When I change 0x2F (slash) to 0x066B in "replacements", I get an error as
follows.

fonts > otf chain > feature 'mpf', type 'gsub_contextchain',
chain lookup 'mpf': rule 1 matches at char U+0002E (period) for (1,1,1)
chars, lookuptype 'gsub_multiple'

would it be possible that only Windows has the latest LuaTeX binary
(0.98.0)?

Linux 32bit has luatex-0.95 and I get wrong hyphenations.

Re: [NTG-context] \mainlanguage[pe]

2016-08-01 Thread Mohammad Hossein Bateni
Is there a trick to get over this issue? Until a conversion mechanism like
what you suggested (\currentdate[persian->day,space,month,persian->month])
is implemented, can I somehow achieve a similar result, perhaps in a not so
clean way?

Can one reduce the result of \currentdate to a simple number by stripping
the additional stuff that is there? Similarly, can I force \currentdate to
expand or is it a fundamental implementation limitation?

Can I access day, month and year values in Lua, to run some if statements,
etc.? For instance, if it is the first day of April, change the font of
the document or something like that.
