[NTG-context] cambria.ttc problem

2016-09-29 Thread Akira Kakuto

it seems that luatex 1.0.0 doesn't recognise the cambria normal ...

I experienced the same problem.
After removing font caches, I can obtain normal shape cambria.

Best,
Akira

[NTG-context] dx in setuplayout problem

2016-09-29 Thread Jean Magnan de Bornier
Hi all,
Trying to print visit cards as in
http://wiki.contextgarden.net/BusinessCard I encounter a problem as the
location=middle seems not to work as expected.
Here is my minimal example:

\definepapersize[BC][width=85mm,height=54mm]

\definelayer[blocks][width=85mm,height=54mm]

\setuppapersize[BC][A4]
  \setuplayout[nx=2,ny=5,dx=10mm]
  \setuplayout[location=middle,width=fit,height=fit]

  \setuppagenumbering[state=stop]

\showframe[edge]
\starttext
moi et moi
\stoptext
.

There is no symmetry in the output as can be seen in the attached file.
This symmetry problem disappears if I drop the «dx=10mm» so maybe the
trouble lies in this instruction.

Sorry if this question already arised.

Confirmed.

gives a solution.

I have made a new set, at [1], as before:

Abbreviations using non-alphanumerical symbols now drop the leading "\", as
they seemed to caused strange conflicts. Easier to type, but will have funny
consequences in say C++ code.

The alphanumerical abbreviations all start with a "\". I have changed the
letters for bold, italic and bold italic, so as to not conflict with Greek
two-letter abbreviations. In addition, added one letter shorthands for normal
italic, as they are so common.

Also, some ConTeXt commands added.

Not all of these math letters work: the MacOS implementation is buggy. All
symbols work, though.

I also experimented with a variation where math letter abbreviations used
non-alphanumerical symbols, but it turns out they are harder to use, because
one needs to learn where they are on the keyboard. So it seems, using
letter-only abbreviations is most efficient, except for a few common cases.

[NTG-context] annotated text: main text in narrower text, annotations on the right

2016-09-29 Thread MF
Hello list,
I need a feature like the one described in http://www.pragma-ade.nl/gen
eral/magazines/mag-1102-mkiv.pdf for annotated verbatim,
but for normal text.

Think about the main text flowing in a narrower text, with the
annotations (like unnumbered sidenotes) in a widened right margin.

Or think about a right margin moved left locally, as long as you need
annotated text.

Thanks,
Massi

You have to extend the entry for ⨌ (0x 2A0C) in char-def.lua to create
the \nt command.

Though TeX does not have the \nt command, perhaps it should be there, now
that Unicode has ⨌. But right now, one cannot assign ⨌ any command.

Hello list,
I need a feature like the one described in http://www.pragma-ade.nl/gen

but for normal text.

Which feature from verbatim annotations do you need because style and color
changes can be applied in normal text without problems.

[NTG-context] \blank[force, halfline] at top page issue

2016-09-29 Thread josephcanedo
Dear list,

I think this issue has been already reported (or a similar one
http://www.mail-archive.com/ntg-context@ntg.nl/msg77729.html) but not resolved.
It seems that if \blank[force, etc … is first in page there is additional
spacing due to topskip. I’ve checked that this unwanted spacing disappears if
topskip is set to 0, but I doubt it’s really good idea to mess up with this low
level TeX setting (or is it good idea ?).

Moreover browsing the spac-ver.* files I noticed the existence of a no_topskip
mechanism which I guess would allow to remove (in lua code) the topskip glue
node but there is no way to enable this from \blank command or at least could
not figure it out. Is there an easy way to enable this no topskip feature ?
Alternative I found is to use a \vbox etc… but wondered if there were some
simpler way using \blank.

Thanks,
Best regards

Joseph Canedo

MWE :

\setuplayout[grid=both] % not really needed
\showgrid

\blank[force, halfline]

Thanks for the answer, Wolfgang.

That's not style and color, it's a sort of two-column layout with the
main text in the left column and annotations (comments) in the right
one.
Example (it does not work):

\starttext

This is the main text\sidenote{annotation} flowing in the left
column...

\stoptext

resulting in

|This is the main text flowing   | annotation               |
|in the left column...           |                          |

You can do it with setuplayout and a wider right margin, using \inright
for annotations, but it's for the whole document or a whole page.
Is that possibile only for a section of text inside a page?

Best regards,
Massi
