[NTG-context] Bug in lmtx with \Bbb is back…

2019-08-19 Thread Otared Kavian
Hi Hans,

The issue with \Bbb is back again with the beta version 2019.08.18 22:27: lmtx
uses math italic roman instead.
Again here is an example:

%%% begin bug-Bbb.tex
\starttext
Let $\beta \in {\Bbb R}$ and $k \in {\Bbb Z}$. For $z\in{\Bbb C}^*$ we define
$f(z) := z^k +\beta$.

\stoptext
%%% end bug-Bbb.tex

Best regards: OK

[NTG-context] \setupcolumnsetlines does not work again

2019-08-19 Thread Sytse Knypstra
I thought I understood the mechanism, but I found another instance where
\setupcolumnsetlines does not give the desired result:

%%%
\definecolumnset[Two][n=2]
\starttext
Test
%\page
\setupcolumnsetlines[Two][1][1][9]
\startcolumnset[Two]
\input knuth
\stopcolumnset
\setupcolumnsetlines[Two][1][1][9]
\startcolumnset[Two]
\input knuth
\stopcolumnset
\stoptext
%%%

This setup gives indeed a balanced first page and an unbalanced second page.
But if the fourth line (\page) is uncommented, the second output page is
unbalanced and the third page is balanced.
So the mechanism is therefore more complicated than
> only if the first columnset extends to more than one page
> the next \setupcolumnsetlines will work properly.

What is the extended rule? If this intended behaviour, what is the reason
behind it?

[NTG-context] experiment

2019-08-19 Thread Hans Hagen

Hi,

I've attached a document that I made last week. It's (currently) an lmtx
only feature. In acrobat, the 'marked' areas (some tracing option) are
the hyperlink. I have no clue how useful this is, maybe for maps or some
educational setting. I had it on my agenda to play with it anyway. I
don't think that viewers other than acrobat support it (even if it's
already quite old pdf stuff; they should anyway fall back on the
rectangle) but who knows ... I only tested sumatra (the okular that I
have doesn't even seem to handle the links at all). It's not really
efficient in bytes because it's (I think) meant for another usage. As
with more features in the pdf format I think it might have started as
some hack, but it's documented so ...

I'm not sure what kind of spec you need. What I have in mind (others could
complete) is in particular a way to plot the set of (x,y) such that
f(x,y)=0 for some given function f and some rectangle in x and y. I made
some plots with Mathematica

http://www.maths.lth.se/matematiklth/personal/mickep/Contour.pdf (too big
for the list)

The first plot shows a difficulty with a contour plot, namely
intersections.
In the second one I added points, and it looks better.
In the third plot I have not specified that the expression should be equal
to 0. Then Mathematica plots the curves f(x,y)=C for various values of C.
In the background it adds a density plot (i.e. a mesh with different
colours for different values of the function.
In the fourth plot, the regionplot, the pairs (x,y) for which f(x,y)<0 are
marked. This is also very useful.
In the fifth plot there is only the densityplot, with different colors for
different values of f.

I don't know how difficult it is to implement this kind of graphics. Also,
it could be useful to be able to input the equation f(x,y)=0 and to receive
the curves as MetaPost paths. It seems that one can do contour plots with
the help of lua if that is something that helps (
http://franko.github.io/graph-toolkit/contour.html).

Anything would be better than nothing, and I'm more than happy to test.

No, because have to change the font feature before you load the font.

When you use \em to get a italic text this is enough:

\definefontfeature [default] [default] [itlc=yes]

\setupbodyfont [pagella,12pt]

\starttext

This {\it will} work?

\stoptext

but to get additional space after italic text when you use the \it
command you have to add \setupitaliccorecction to your setups:

\definefontfeature [default] [default] [itlc=yes]

\setupbodyfont [pagella,12pt]

\setupitaliccorrection [text]

\starttext

This {\it will} work?

\stoptext

For more details about the options for the \setupitaliccorrection
command take a look into fonts-mkiv.pdf.

[NTG-context] LMTX: Space in file names

2019-08-19 Thread Otared Kavian
Hi Hans,

I noticed that the lmtx beta from 2019.08.18 22:27 does not anymore accept
spaces in file names, while the mkiv version does accept it.
I am aware that putting a space in a file name is a very bad habit, but I am
convincing some people who were used to use MS Word in order for them to use
ConTeXt, and these people have many files with names containing spaces such as
« correction problème 1.tex » (and in fact this is how I noticed this new
behavior of lmtx: when typesetting such a file, lmtx looks for « correction.tex
»).
That is why I think if lmtx could continue to accept spaces in file names that
would be very convenient. Do you think this would be possible?

Best regards: OK

It depends on how you define ide ... one problem is that it's not really
possible to easy define keybindings for running, help etc per filetype
yet (as in scite etc) and messing with this server model is not on my
