Re: [NTG-context] Typefile with Chinese, Korean or Japanase text

2017-12-06 Thread Wim Neimeijer
Thanks for all your input and help, but as said before I don't have the
time to upgrade and than to discover existing things don't work
resulting in a complete new thread to debug these existing things and/or
fix with a new beta installation.

But that is perhaps not my biggest concern with all these beta releases,
ConText is great and for the most part easy to use, I am more worried that
my existing ConText environment (setup) becomes broken, and/or resulting in
complete different PDF output.
I have no way of knowing, apart from visually inspecting a lot of pages of
PDF.

I thought including some code examples via \typefile (with a bit of text in
either Cyrillic, Chinese, Japanese or Korean)
could be achieved with a simple local font switch, or setting a regime or
via \setuptyping but not on a global level
with \definefontsynonym, definefontfallback etc.

My fix is to change the examples a bit and continue.
Again thanks for the help

2017-12-06 Thread Wim Neimeijer
I disagree, a version from 2016 is not very old. I have a lot of documents
using a ConText setup which works with this version
of luatex and context.

Last week I tried to use the latest beta with my documents and the beta was
unable to run my documents.
As it seems it is not backward compatible and I have no time at the moment
to debug or test.

So no, I cannot update at the moment.

The thing here is, I am not an ConText expert just an user. I am working on
a manual (200+ pages) where including code snippets
is just a small part of the document and not something isolated. Not sure
what to do next as the wiki explains a lot
but not this.

I wish it is that simple, but alas, I need to
to inform \typefile of the font as well,
possibly via setuptyping ?

The following works with texlive 2017 (pdflatex), meaning I have the fonts
installed.
I also ran
$ mtxrun --script font --reload

\usepackage[T1]{fontenc}
\usepackage{CJKutf8}
\usepackage[english]{babel}

I am writing a manual where I include code snippets with typefile. Some of
the code snippets contain text in Japanese

characters

I can confirm that there is an extra number. I do not know what is

I compiled My Way on mathalign, and everything has an extra number.
hmm...

Does a solution or fix exists for this problem ?
The problem still exists in ConTeXt ver: 2007.01.02 13:44 MK II fmt:

I don't want to complain but in general this is really worrying, changes
to core functionality

which worked in the past, it seems it suddenly stops working.

I saw Taco made a comment on the 3nd of January 2007 , quoting
''There is that extra stuff in \everymathematics. Could that be it?''
but unfortunately he did not provide a solution.

Just fetch this one:

   https://foundry.supelec.fr/frs/?group_id=13release_id=194

You can simply unzip and copy the binaries from the
metapost-0.993-win32.zip over the ones from the distrib,

and run ctxtools --update to refresh the metafun format.

Best, Taco

Installed metapost 0.993 (reports as 0.992) and did the ctxtools
--update, however at the end of the update I am getting

[NTG-context] MPtoPDF Error ??

2007-01-06 Thread Wim Neimeijer
I am getting the following error when recompiling my docs with the
latest context.
The docs run ok with the previous context version.

Don't know what is wrong here, I hope someone has the answer.

[NTG-context] Page headers/footers setup

2006-12-15 Thread Wim Neimeijer
Hi all,

I want to use different headers/footers for the different section blocks.
I use \setupheaderstexts, \setupfootertexts but those are global settings.

What I now use is a couple of \setupheader[state=start/stop] and
\setupfooter[state=start/stop] to switch off/on the (un)desired
header/footer.

How can I specifically set the headers/footers per sectionblock so
they act only on the body matter or back matter ?

Kind regards

Wim

[NTG-context] Question \completepublications

2006-12-14 Thread Wim Neimeijer
Hello All,

My project looks like this and all looks well.

\usemodule[bib]
\startproject cart
\mainlanguage[nl]

\input cartbiblio % contains \start..\stoppublication

\startbodymatter
\component cart8 % contains main text
*\completepublications % this works*
\stopbodymatter
\startappendices
\completeindex
\stopappendices
\stopproject

However when I move the \complepublications to the \start..\stopappendices
like this

\usemodule[bib]
\startproject cart
\mainlanguage[nl]

\input cartbiblio % contains \start..\stoppublication

\startbodymatter
\component cart8 % contains main text
\stopbodymatter
\startappendices
*\completepublications % this does not work*
\completeindex
\stopappendices
\stopproject
*
*all the references made by \cite are empty ? The log of this run
indicates that cart.bbl is not found but in the working example
it does not need a cart.bbl file ?

Kind regards

Wim

[NTG-context] Context, Metapost \sometxt and color

2006-12-02 Thread Wim Neimeijer
Hi

The following used to work, the text came out in the color red, now it
is shown in black.
Am I doing something wrong here ? Or should I use something else instead ?
Any help appreciated

% example code
\setupcolors[state=start]
\starttext
\startMPcode
picture p;
p := \sometxt{$R_{\mu \nu } - \frac{1}{2} R - \Lambda g_{\mu \nu} =
\kappa T_{\mu \nu}$} ;
p := p scaled 3;
draw p withcolor red;
\stopMPcode

[NTG-context] Index and bookmark problem

2006-12-01 Thread Wim Neimeijer

Hi,

I get an error when I use bookmarks in combination with indexed keywords
in chapter/section
like the example below. When I comment out the \placebookmarks, things
seem to work.

Is this behavior to be expected or is there a workaround/solution ?

Kind regards
Wim Neimeijer

% Example %
\setupinteraction[state=start]
\placebookmarks[chapter]
\setupinteractionscreen[option=bookmark]

\starttext
\chapter{Affiene connectie en affiene \index{geodeten}geodeten}
\section{Inleiding}
\index{Ruimtetijd} Ruimtetijd is een vierdimensionale differentieerbare
vari\eteit. In de vorige paragrafen hebben we op grond
van het equivalentieprincipe van Einstein een metriek en een metrische
connectie op \index{Ruimtetijd} Ruimtetijd ingevoerd.
In deze paragraaf zullen we wat algemener een
\index{connectie+affiene}affiene connectie op \index{Ruimtetijd}
Ruimtetijd invoeren.
Het zal blijken dat de metrische en de affiene connectie aan elkaar
gelijk kunnen zijn.

[NTG-context] math tests - subformula ref's and symbols \oiint \oiiint like in Latex AMS

2006-02-17 Thread Wim Neimeijer
Title: math tests - subformula ref's and symbols \oiint \oiiint like in Latex AMS

Hi,

I am using Context for the second time now and I am investigating
the pro's and con's before migrating my Latex documents to Context.
So far I am really impressed with Context capabilities.

Now I am testing some of the math I typeset with Latex to
determine whether or not to use Context.
In Latex I am using the ams math packages and knowing that there is
a amsl module for Context I did some test such as

\def\wdiv{{\rm div} \:}
\def\rot{{\rm rot} \:}
\placeformula[eqn1]
\startformula
\eqalignno{
\wdiv \vec{E}  = \frac{\rho}{\epsilon_{0}} \formulanumber{.a} \cr
\rot \vec{B}  = \mu_{0} \:\vec{j} \subformulanumber{.b} \cr
\wdiv \vec{B}  = 0 \subformulanumber{.c} \cr
\rot \vec{E} + \frac{\partial \vec{B} }{\partial t}  = 0  \subformulanumber{.d} \cr}
\stopformula

How can I refer to these subformulas in my running text ?

As I am typesetting a lot of math in my physics doc's I use a lot of integration symbols amongs others.
In Latex I use \oint, \oiint and \oiint, even a quadruple int to indicate space - time integrals. Even I defined
a tex command for the surface integral.
I also found the Context \showmathcharacters which gave me most of the math symbols from the amsl module.

However I did not found alternatives for \oiint, \oiiint unfortenately.
I discovered the \definemathsymbol in several context tex files, I was wondering if it is possible to
setup my own \oiint, \oiiint, \ont ... symbols ? If yes, my problem is I can't find any docu's on the usage of \definemathsymbol ?

Any help appreciated

Kind regards

W.Neimeijer

[NTG-context] Newbie question ConText

2006-01-16 Thread Wim Neimeijer
Title: Newbie question ConText

Hi,

I am a Latex (MikTex 2.4, WindowsXP Pro) user and I want to learn more about ConText.

I installed ConText via the MikTex 2.4 package manager, and read some of the ConText manuals.

I also compiled successfully some of the ConText tex samples, but I ran into a couple of problems :

- First I would like to know the most recent stable version of ConText and where to get it.

- Looking at the logs of some of the runs e.g. compiling the MetaFun manual, I am running into font problems.

Error messages like : maketfm : No creation rule for font ComputerModernSans-Bold pop up.

I saw some emails on this list dealing with the same problem, but I could not find a definite solution.

Thanks for your help

Kind regards

W. Neimeijer
