Re: Friday OT: Nine Words Women Use
#1 also needs a reference to #3! It can also mean they're admitting to being wrong, but that really does the man no good at all (again, see #3). -- Richard McClary, Systems Administrator ASPCA Knowledge Management 1717 S Philo Rd, Ste 36, Urbana, IL 61802 217-337-9761 http://www.aspca.org Angus Scott-Fleming [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote on 03/28/2008 10:02:10 AM: 'Nine Words Women Use' (seen online this morning) (1) Fine: This is the word women use to end an argument when they are right and you need to shut up. (2) Five Minutes: If she is getting dressed, this means a half an hour. Five minutes is only five minutes if you have just been given five more minutes to watch the game before helping around the house. (3) Nothing: This is the calm before the storm. This means something, and you should be on your toes. Arguments that begin with nothing usually end in fine. (4) Go Ahead: This is a dare, not permission. Don 't Do It! (5) Loud Sigh: This is actually a word, but is a non-verbal statement often misunderstood by men. A loud sigh means she thinks you are an idiot and wonders why she is wasting her time standing here and arguing with you aboutnothing. (Refer back to # 3 for the meaning of nothing.) (6) That's Okay: This is one of the most dangerous statements a woman can make to a man. That's okay means she wants to think long and hard before deciding how and when you will pay for your mistake. (7) Thanks: A woman is thanking you, do not question, or Faint. Just say you're welcome. (I want to add in a clause here - This is true, unless she says 'Thanks a lot' - that is PURE sarcasm and she is not thanking you at all. DO NOT say, 'you're welcome' ... that will bring on a 'whatever'). (8) Whatever: Is a woman's way of saying [EMAIL PROTECTED] YOU! (9) Don't worry about it: I got it: Another dangerous statement, meaning this is something that a woman has told a man to do several times, but isnow doing it herself. This will later result in a man asking 'What's wrong?' RE: Mail for Exchange on Nokia N95 with T-Mobile
Ok, my bad. Windows mobile has specific certification roots that it supports. While I can suspect the same thing is true about Symbian, I really have no idea. If OMA doesn't work, I would be wondering about your carrier, more than Exchange though. It's a simple cHTML application, it does nothing fancy. Regards, Michael B. Question on domain controller certificates
Hi, I have two separate windows 2003 domains. In domainA I have a certificate authority and for domainA DC I was able to sign a cert with no problems. However, when I try to sign the a cert using the certificate authority in domainA for the domainB DC I keep getting errors like: DNS name is unavailable and cannot be added to Subject Alternate name Appreciate any hints and ideas on how to get a certificate set up for my domainB DC. Thanks in advance. RE: Question on domain controller certificates
You may want to check the event log for errors to help you further, I had a problem similar but not exact to this recently and it was resolved by adding Domain Controllers to the DCOM_CERT_SRV group. -Original Message- From: Ski Kacoroski [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Saturday, March 29, 2008 11:24 AM To: NT System Admin Issues Subject: Question on domain controller certificates Hi, I have two separate windows 2003 domains. Re: Server 2003 32bit vs 64bit AD and mem 4GB
Great responses guys. A Dell engineer confirmed that we'd be fine but hearing it from this group gives me the warm fuzzies. On the question of why buy 16GB for a box that does nothing but AD? A: We had the money in the budget. Also, I know, at some point, that we'll upgrade to 2008 during the five year lifespan (but currently own Server2003 Std) of this box so I figured it couldn't hurt to try to future proof those boxes. Also, Bill Gates once said no one would need more that 640K and we know how that logic played out : ) Thanks again everyone!! - Jer Ken Schaefer wrote: Either use Windows Server 2003 x86 Enterprise Edition (if you want to see the extra RAM) or the Windows Server 2003 x64 Standard Edition. From memory GPMC doesn't run on x64 (But I could be mistaken about that). No issue with AD itself on x64 - runs fine. Actually you get 4GB per user mode process (rather than 2GB out of 4GB), so you can sustain a larger AD .dit/database. In doing so I want to add extra RAM to the box. If I put 16GB RAM into the new box and install Server2003 Std 32bit what will the system do? Simply ignore the extra RAM? Any harm in doing this? If it's better to use Server2003 Std 64bit to properly see the RAM is there anything that changes in AD? My gut tells me 99% this is OK and I can't find anything online stating otherwise but I want to be sure. These boxes only do AD so I don't have to worry about any external apps being 64bit. Why don't you put VMWare ESX on this thing and run the DC in a VM? MIgrating SP 2003 discussion boards to MoSS
Hi guys I am migrating a portal 2003 to another server and in the process taking the chance to move to sharepoint 2007 on the new server. Since the existing server has only on web app with very small amount of content i have exported most of the content to spreadsheets and imported. However, i have 2 discussion forums which I am finding a pain to migrate. Essentially what i tried was to save the site as a template with content included and import that into the moss web app as it doesn't allow you to export to spreadsheet. If I go to site settings and upload the template, even after restarting iis the template never shows up when i go to build a new site with it. I did manage to use the stsadm tool to import the template however when i select it for my site I get and error saying the template is invalid. I think this may be because it is being saved as a list template not a site template. Unfortunately in 2003 you can seem to edit anything in the datasheet view and you can only sort lists or links etc. I would have hoped that importing these discussion boards was fairly straight forward. I have googled around for a while and haven't been able to come up with any good info. I'd be very interested in anyone's feedback or help. RE: Vista 64bit and Cisco VPN
I understand there are some Linux grown vpn clients that work on windows. Have a search... jlc From: Bob Fronk [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Friday, March 28, 2008 5:04 PM To: NT System Admin Issues Subject: Vista 64bit and Cisco VPN From reading this list and other articles, I know that the Cisco VPN client does not work on Vista 64bit. I thought I saw something that said SSL VPN is supported, however, I cannot get SSL VPN to work on Vista 64bit. (I have made sure the concentrator and SSL VPN works with other platforms such as XP and it does) I found the below on a Cisco FAQ. So my question is, does anyone know of a way to VPN to a Cisco Concentrator 3005 from Vista 64bit? (Not pptp please) Q. SSL VPN Client fails to launch on Windows Vista with Internet Explorer 7, and the user gets the Installer is downloading Active xInstaller was not able to start SSL VPN client error message. A. Cause: The error appears because the SSL VPN Client (SVC) fails to initiate a connection. This happens because of ActiveX install/download problems on Windows Vista with Microsoft Internet Explorer 7. Windows Vista is shipped with Internet Explorer 7, which has an entirely new model that deals with ActiveX. Aside from the differences in ActiveX, the networking stack has been rewritten, and the routing table is different. There are a few other quirks that can affect the client, as well. Resolution: SVC is not compatible with or supported on Windows Vista with the Internet Explorer 7 browser as of now. The workaround is to use supported platforms, such as Windows XP, with Internet Explorer 7. This email and any attached files are confidential and intended solely for the intended recipient(s).
