Are you using the unmanaged switch? I've set up a batch file, and done everything else I can think of to work around the following: The capacity of the tape is sufficient to do a full backup on one tape, but the client is sometimes forgetful, and doesn't change the tape. I'd like to be able to have the backup simply overwrite whatever tape is in the drive, and not worry about it, on the theory that they'll remember most times, but that it's better to have a current backup always, and to heck with the backup from two nights ago if I've got one from last night. Nothing seems to work. Any hints? -Original Message- From: Diane Beckham [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Wednesday, August 01, 2001 20:12 To: NT System Admin Issues Subject: RE: NTBACKUP/multi-tape Thanks Laura for the update. RE: OWA/SSL/ACE/WLBS
As info, we weren't able to get this to work. RSA will probably add code to allow this but not in time for our project. We're going to use something like Big IP or Radware or something. Since you don't specify, I'm guessing that you're using a second network for the load balance stuff. Make sure that there isn't a default gateway set for the nics on that network. There should only be one default gateway on any machine. I'll bet dollars to donuts this is the issue. You might want to go as far as making the back network a /30 network (2 hosts). That might also help. One last ditch effort (and I strongly suggest you don't put this setup in production) is to create a static route for the ACE server on each server, to the appropriate network interface. In general, host routes take precedence over network routes, so it will always use that route. -- Roger D. My final note on this subject is that you have to prepare tape #2 EVERY TIME YOU WANT TO USE IT. A... thanks for letting me vent. P.S. You're welcome!
