ad-hoc network detection

2008-09-22 Thread Max Krone
Hello all,

I am reviewing logs from our Cisco Wireless network configuration and
believe their may be a computer in our environment that is broadcasting as
an ad-hoc network and interfering with a few of my access points. Are any of
you aware of any tools I can use from my computer to possibly detect which
computers in my environment could be acting as the ad-hoc network. I would
prefer not to touch every laptop and wireless enabled PC if I don't have to!

Thanks,
Max

wireless printer solution

2008-09-05 Thread Max Krone
Hello all,

We have an HP printer that is in our shipping area that is connected via USB
to a computer and this works well (The PC is connected via wireless adapter
to our network). However, our management wants to be able to print from
other computers in our office through our ERP solution (MS Dynamics AX).

I would like to set up a wireless printer adapter so the printer can be
added as a network printer like all of the wired printers in our office.
Does anybody have a recommendation for a wireless adapter that works with
WPA-PSK (TKIP)? I have a Dell Wireless 3300 printer adapter that I tested
here, and it can see the network settings, but when I add the key it cannot
connect to the network. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

If the article itself does not, the references at the bottom of the
 article will.

You need to be VERY careful about external connector content. It must ALL
be available externally. And if you aren't using FBA (that is, SharePoint
built-in authentication), you'll also need an external connector for Windows
Server and SQL Server. Those dollars add up FAST.

*Subject:* Slightly OT: Sharepoint licensing questions

 Hello everyone,

This may be an easy question to those of you who have deployed Sharepoint
Portal Server. One unit in our business is looking at migrating their
service website onto Sharepoint. Technically, it looks like Sharepoint will
provide what we need, so I'm trying to develop a cost estimate. It is
expected that about 15 internal domain users will be accessing the server as
well as about 700 outside service agents, with about 100 expected to be
online concurrently. From what I have read, it looks like the most common
way to handle licensing is to purchase an unlimited External Connector
license, which costs around $20k/yr annually, or purchase the package with
software assurance for $60k. Is this what most customers are doing? Any
advice or links to other documentation would be appreciated.

 Thanks,
 Max

OT: Cisco VOIP phone issue

2008-03-28 Thread Max Krone
Hello,

I know this is off topic but was hoping someone could give me some
direction. We have a Cisco Call Manager VOIP phone system with a Cisco
Contact Manager call center server. Since the implementation about two
months ago we have experienced an issue where if all of the call center
agents are on the phone, the majority of incoming calls are disconnected
while waiting in the queue. This has led to some very unhappy customers and
our management is grumbling. Our phone vendor has issued a TAC with Cisco
which has led to some configuration changes and and IOS upgrade but the
problem has not been solved, or even improved for that matter.

Does anyone have any recommendations of troubleshooting resources or have
run into a similar problem and can give me some options of things to check.

Thanks and happy Friday!

Max
