RE: Disk to Disk Backup Solutions
I've only ever looked at DPM WRT to MOSS 2007, and whilst it's a great backup tool, restoration leaves a lot to be desired. For backup/restore of files, it probably works great. Dealing with MOSS 2007 probably introduces a bunch of complexity that DPM doesn't handle well yet. It works very well over a WAN. It is VSS based, so yes it is block level. I had issues with DoubleTake losing connection and not picking back up over my WAN links, but I have not had that problem since changing to DPM. Well, TVK had the right answer (DPM 2007 with a SAN in the backend); but it's not the cheapest solution by far. That's why I ask. You can get really cheap disk these days.
