RE: E-discovery Windows Tools

Windows Desktop search is a free add-in that works with Windows XP and
higher.

Subject: OT: E-discovery Windows Tools

We need a tool to search through Windows file shares and local Windows PC
hard
drives for E-Discovery. It needs to search all the basic Office documents
along
with PDFs and PSTs. We are a SMB with no budget for this tool, so we need
something that is free or inexpensive. Something that works with Macintosh
computers would be a plus.

Windows Search Server Express will handle all of your Windows needs.

I can't help with the Macs, some of the other folks here might have ideas.

Re: E-discovery Windows Tools

2010-12-21 Thread System Manager
Windows Desktop search doesn't seem like a good fit for E-discovery needs.
Depending on the number files searched, there may be thousands or more matching
documents and email messages/attachments. The search results and matching
documents must be exacted and then turned over as part of the E-Discovery
process. There must be tools specifically created to satisfy the requirements
of E-Discovery.

RE: E-DISCOVERY

2008-01-10 Thread Louis, Joe
As I recall, the recent (last year) Federal Discovery Rule only related to
email. Also as I recall, the only requirement was to produce those
emails/attachments that are consistent within your established and
documented policy (meaning you can change your policy to say 1 week
retention just because you got served).

This is a link that was given to me a while back.

We're interested in E-Discovery as it relates to backup of electronic
documents and email. I've done some research, but have been unable to
determine what are actually the requirements because everything I've seen is
in legaleze. Does anyone have something more definitive at this point?
