I think that's correct, but this one won't start with them enabled either, and it was working fine until recently. OK as to why NIC. Anyway, just because one thing is broken doesn't mean more things are not broken... We switched from HP-UX many many years ago, and I was just getting my feet wet as to unix administration. I wonder if there is some HP CD I can boot from to do a diagnostics on the hardware. What's the equivalent of SmartStart these days, and is there a bootable diagnostics version? I actually suspect that the disc logical volume mgr.
