My only guess is that some list archive servers are transient, or have
moved to new IP addresses or names, and google hasn't finished
indexing them.

Just curious to see if anyone else comes up with this same thing. All of
us here in my office have gone to www.google.com and typed in different
search phrases and all received the same type of message from Google:
We're sorrybut your query looks similar to automated requests from a
computer virus or spyware .. Then a captcha below the verbage to
enter, which when done, gives the results of the search. Then any subsquent
searches sometimes work, and sometimes go back to the same message

make some sense, got one particular computer that has had a very high number

The searches we were doing to test were pretty basic like Windows Updates,

Thanks guys, this should answer the question that my manager will be asking,
so he's going to have the answers before he asks ;)

And once again, this list has made me look like an absolutely brilliant

When your user base includes 4000 teenagers with raging hormones you learn
these things. Their search terms are pretty entertaining. :)

I ran afoul of Google's anti-abuse system once, several years back,
and didn't even get a CAPTCHA. I was basically told -- to borrow a
phrase from our friends in the UK -- to bugger off for a while.

I was doing some interesting searches to try and determine what
Google would accept as a search query. Didn't get very far -- as soon
as I saw that, I decided it wasn't worth it and gave up. It cleared
itself in maybe 15 minutes. Thankfully. I might have got in trouble
with the boss otherwise. :)
