A quick google found this:

http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1264420&tstart=0

and at the very end a user reports success with this:

http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=306840

but it's for 10.5 - so not sure if it would work with 10.4

You can always re-install the OS with an Archive and Install (esp. if you
try the above and it doesn't work). It's actually a pretty cool feature
of Mac OS:

http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107120

if you pick the "Preserve user and network settings" option about the only
thing you have to put back after an archive and install are printer
drivers. For a complete system re-install, it's fairly non-intrusive. If
you forget to check the preserve users setting:

http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107297

It's so non-destructive to your Mac that it's my default install for
whenever I upgrade to a new version of Mac OS. Re-installing my printers
is a small price for having a clean OS install. You may have to
re-install the Xraid software too - so have that ready.

I just checked with one of our resident Mac guru's and he didn't have
anything to really add to the above since we haven't encountered your
issue (although it looks like others have too). I did confirm with him,
since I don't play with server that much, that an Archive and Install will
preserve the user accounts on server just like it does on the desktop
versions.

When I am in front of the server and type in my username and password and
click to login the system flashes once and I am back at the
username/password dialogue boxes.

Xraid works just fine with Windows servers. You will probably have to
re-format the volumes to NTFS from HFS+, so you will have to back up and
restore everything (if you care about it).

As for your login issue - you connect to a share but you can't log in from
the console? What does "can't login" mean? Do you get an error? Never
prompted for username/password? What exactly doesn't happen when you try to
login?

I wanted to get rid of it for the longest time, maybe it is time. Just need
to find out if I can move the Xraid to a Windows server.

I got a Mac OS 10.4 server login dilemma here. I don't know if the server
has been hacked or not. I cannot logon to the server. I can connect to the
shares fine from another computer. I have booted off a DVD and reset all 3
admin passwords. I know the password reset was okay because I can connect
to the shares with the new passwords. I have done the same to the root
account. I have even let the password be blank. Any idea from Mac
specialists?

Thank you,
