See if those IE-only apps work in Firefox + IE Tab extension. (On a
couple of XP machines here, including mine, we need to use this
combination to run MS Update. IE 6 crashes as soon as it is opened; IE 7
locks up completely if and when something tries either to open a new tab
or a new window.)

JC,
We have had issues with IE7 on a couple of Vista machines here. I have been
able to get every one of them working again, by installing the IE8 Beta and
then uninstalling it afterwards. This appears to reset IE7 back to its original
config. No promises, but it might be worth a try.

JC,
We have had issues with IE7 on a couple of Vista machines here. I have been
able to get every one of them working again, by installing the IE8 Beta and
then uninstalling it afterwards. This appears to reset IE7 back to its original
config. No promises, but it might be worth a try.

Great tip, I'll tuck that one away. We finally resorted to system restore - no
time to go through the educational troubleshooting, bigger fish to fry.

JC,
We have had issues with IE7 on a couple of Vista machines here. I have been
able to get every one of them working again, by installing the IE8 Beta and
then uninstalling it afterwards. This appears to reset IE7 back to its original
config. No promises, but it might be worth a try.
