Re: Thin Clients Windows Terminal Server Question

2008-07-22 Thread S Conn.
If you're running XPe on the Thin Client (sorry, didn't look at the
specs of the Wy80), you can use a printer mapping software such as
Screwdrivers from Tricerat (http://www.tricerat.com/) or something
like Thinprint. I use Screwdrivers here and it works great. I also
use Thinprint for a 3rd party app and I'd suggest you avoid it like
the plague.

But both of these softwares will map any printer attached (or mapped)
to the thin client on the server via the RDP protocol, taking care of
drivers and the like. It's pretty easy to use and fairly stable (as
long as you're not using Thinprint). Screwdrivers also "optimizes"
the printing for WAN connections, but I never really bothered with the
details on that.

RE: Thin Clients Windows Terminal Server Question

2008-07-22 Thread Tom Miller
I meant install the drivers on the thin client and configure printing locally.
Then once you establish a session you should see the local printer. If you are
using the universal print driver, usually no issues. If not, you might want to
install the specific driver on the TS server. We use Citrix so it's a bit
different.

Once I install the drivers will it show up when they establish a
session?
