Eventcombmt? We use it at %dayjob% to determine where account lockouts get
generated from. Won't tell you what process though.

RE: Where is a service account being used in domain?

2012-01-17 Thread Rod Trent
It can definitely do that. However, if you want to go a bit further and
monitor the service (examples, when its running, when its not, etc.) you'll
want to look at Opsmgr.

SCCM can be configured to report on services. Including the name of the
account configured to run the service.

Thank you Michael and Andrew.

Chris, no we don't have SCCM. But am curious how that works for this
purpose.

Thanks.

Is it possible? What tool or script that might be? Thanks.

RE: Where is a service account being used in domain?

2012-01-17 Thread Michael B. Smith
NetWrix has a tool that does that. I think it's free for 30 days or something
like that.

If you have a list of computers that you want to check, I wrote a blog about
this containing a script to check each computer:

http://theessentialexchange.com/blogs/michael/archive/2008/02/29/finding-services-using-non-system-accounts-with-powershell.aspx

(And yes, if I were to rewrite that today - It would look quite a bit different
- but it works, so there ya go!)
