Good.

But I also realized that upsrw can only set "battery.date" and
"ups.id" but nothing else. I'd
really appreciate to have the capability to set "ups.test.interval"
at least. ;)

Maybe older devices don't support this, or the author of this driver
didn't know about them. I really don't know. Please post the output of
this driver when running it in debug mode like

/path/to/apcsmart -a su900i -D

to see if it reveals anything and someone steps up to check this. I
neither own nor have any interest in adding these features, so this is
where I step back. Given the age of your hardware, I really doubt it
is worth the time and effort to dig into this, unless you have plenty
of free time on your hands.

To do just what you do - keep the list traffic on the list and don't
take it off-list. I usually don't respond to replies sent in private,

That's all we need for now.

I've just added support for this version, assuming that it is similar
to the Smart UPS 900 firmware [7TD] we already support. We have
confirmed that this is the case for the 600 and 1250 models, so this
probably goes for the 900 as well.

I've added support for all variations of the [678][QT][DI] models now,
so if you grab the latest version from the SVN trunk, you should be
fine. Please let us know if this works for you.

anything.

The command "upsrw -u admin -p su9...@localhost" does not
return anything.

The command "upsrw -s test.panel.start -u admin -p
su9...@localhost" returns

"Enter new value for test.panel.start:
Unexpected response from upsd: ERR VAR-NOT-SUPPORTED"

All of the above is a waste of effort. Commands and variables that are
not reported as supported by the driver, won't make it past the
server. Please have a look at the man pages for upscmd and upsrw on
how to make them report the list of supported variables.

When I send an 'A' to the UPS with a quick-hacked-PHP-Script on the
serial port (Prolific 2303 USB

adapter), the UPS correctly starts beeping.

How can I do the driver debug trace?

Fire up the driver directly (*not* through upsdrvctl) and add -D
to the startup command line, something along the lines of

/path/to/apcsmart -a su900i -D

This will run until you kill it with Ctrl-C. Please post the first 15
seconds worth of output here.

can you elaborate more, and send us some more outputs (ie upsrw / upscmd),
along with a driver debug trace (apcsmart -D -a ...). though I doubt the

another interesting test is to try NUT trunk, since I've recently commited
some patch for apcsmart.

[Nut-upsuser] APC Smart UPS 900i

2009-05-25 Thread Rene Bartsch
Hi,

I'm running an old APC Smart UPS 900i. As there isn't any software from APC
which supports this
UPS anymore, I've installed NUT (Gentoo Ebuilds), but version 2.0.5 and version
2.2.2 loose
connection to the UPS while version 2.4.1 and SVN version don't show any
settings and there are no
instant commands.

The only information I can get are:

driver.name: apcsmart
driver.parameter.cable: 940-0024C
driver.parameter.pollinterval: 2
driver.parameter.port: /dev/ttyUSB0
driver.version: 2.4.1
driver.version.internal: 2.03
input.voltage: 226.9
ups.mfr: APC
ups.model: Smart-UPS
ups.serial: 00016325
ups.status: OL

How can I use the UPS (battery test, configuration)?

Best regards,

Renne
