[nysbirds-l] common raven over Rocky Point
Today while at the St Pats parade in Rocky Point a single raven was seen flying out of the preserve circleing several times over the catholic church in town then gliding southwest towards what is known as Macnamaras field. While an artificial habitat pool seems an odd spot for a muskrat, they are fairly common around Brooklyn in coastal spots, such as, Gerritsen Creek in Marine Park. The list below includes birds seen in the fields and flooded streams/ponds off of Cauterskill Road, Kiskatom, Town of Catskill, Greene County. I took pix of the geese flocks and the red-wings in order to get a decent estimate of numbers. The blackbird flock was impressive! I was able to get some pix of the male and female Hooded Merganser in the same frame as a drake Bufflehead.
