[nysbirds-l] Correction - common Loon

Derek Rogers (and others) pointed out that its actually a Common Loon that I 
spotted in the Carmans River. Sorry for the mis-ID. EIther way a bit unusual in 
June

[nysbirds-l] loon - carmans river

The Loon I photographed yesterday at the Mouth of the Carmans River appears
to be a non-breeding plumage Red-throated loon.  Apparently it's been
around for a few days.

Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge (MNWR) and Montezuma Wetlands Complex (MWC)


     6/23: A LEAST BITTERN was found at Tschache Pool. TRUMPETER SWAN and BLACK 
TERN were seen at Towpath Road.


Madison County


     6/22: 2 SANDHILL CRANES were seen on Ditchbank Road.


Herkimer County


     6/18: 2 EVENING GROSBEAKS were seen on the Gray-Wilmurt Road.
     6/19: An UPLAND SANDPIPER was seen on Parkhurst Road in the Town of 
Fairfield.
     6/21: A SWAINSON’S THRUSH was found at the Shawangunk Nature Preserve 
south of Hinkley Reservoir. A WHIP-POOR-WILL was found near the intersection of 
the Military Road and Rt.29 in the Town of Salisbury.


Oswego County


     6/19: 2 adult and 4 young TRUMPETER SWANS continue at the Rt. 6 wetland 
north of Rt.3. 
     6/23: 3 GRASSHOPPER SPARROWS were again seen at the south end of Main 
Street in Richland. A PRAIRIE WARBLER continues at Churchill Road north of 
Rt.69 in Happy Valley.


Oneida County


     6/21: A RED-HEADED WOODPECKER was seen in  Verona Beach State Park.
     6/24: 2 CLAY-COLORED SPARROWS were found at the Spring Farm Nature 
Sanctuary south of Clinton.


Onondaga County


     6/18: 4 ORCHARD ORIOLES were seen at Green Lakes State Park on the Blue 
Trail.
     6/20: A WHIP-POOR-WILL continues tobe heard on 60 Road in the Three Rivers 
WMA north of Baldwinsville.
     6/22: ORCHARD ORIOLES were again seen at Green Lakes State Park.


Cayuga County


     6/22: A pair of BLUE-WING TEAL with young are being seen on Dragonfly Pond 
at the Sterling Nature Center.
