Re: [nysbirds-l] Rye White Pelican has apparently moved on

2017-12-26 Thread Jack Rothman
“Bronx” Brendan Keogh reported to me this morning that he saw the bird flying
over the area of Hunter Island in Pelham Bay Park, Bronx, and it looked to be
headed south. His call was at about noon.

I guess the Pelican decided it’s nicer in Sanibel Island or maybe Miami.

Sounds good to me,

The Playland Lake White Pelican took some exploratory flights over the past
2 days and was last seen late morning (11:30 or so). We have checked the
lake just now (4 to 5 pm) but no Pelican.
Also no sign of the Lapland Longspur or Horned Lark flock.

[nysbirds-l] Mountain Bluebird update NO

2017-12-26 Thread Patricia Lindsay
Before leaving the beach I returned to Robert Moses Field 2 and
patrolled the edges, and also walked into the picnic area (last seen
here before it had disappeared earlier). I also checked down the
sidewalk that leads to the club house at the golf course. No luck with
the Mountain Bluebird. I left the area about 20 minutes ago.

A friend just told me about the bird which is currently off the west end 2

Patricia Lindsay just re-found what is presumably her continuing Robert Moses

She is attempting to get photos and critical views to confirm it is the same
individual present recently at Democrat Point, about a mile to the west.
