[nysbirds-l] Reminder - Turkey hunting season begins May 1st
Just so you know. Spring season opens Tuesday, May 1st through May 31st from 1/2 hour before sunrise till noon each day. Turkey hunters use very cryptic camouflaged clothing and will often remain motionless. So you may not see them in the forest. Also be aware that they may be using imitation turkey sounds. So if you are planning to go into any area, be sure to check the hunting regulations and whether hunting is permitted there. Some state parks and local conservation areas do allow spring turkey hunting. And wear orange if you do go into a hunting area,. -- Richard Guthrie -- NYSbirds-L List Info: http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsWELCOME.htm http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsRULES.htm http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsSubscribeConfigurationLeave.htm ARCHIVES: 1) http://www.mail-archive.com/nysbirds-l@cornell.edu/maillist.html 2) http://www.surfbirds.com/birdingmail/Group/NYSBirds-L 3) http://birding.aba.org/maillist/NY01 Please submit your observations to eBird: http://ebird.org/content/ebird/ --
