[nysbirds-l] Update on Staten Island Wood Stork

2021-08-05 Thread José R . Ramírez-Garofalo
Hi all,

As of this evening the Wood Stork is back at the Amazon Fulfilment Center
on Staten Island.

Please do not walk around the pond edge, do not walk *into* the water for
photos (yes, this happened..), and please stay along the road while viewing
the bird—it has been flushed by observers moving too close.

Thank you--

Jose Ramirez-Garofalo, Anthony Ciancimino, Shannon Curley

[nysbirds-l] Brown Booby, New York Harbor

2021-08-05 Thread Ryan Zucker
Had an adult Brown Booby about 30 mins ago from the Staten Island ferry heading
east toward the Bush Terminal Piers area. Could be visible from various points
along the Brooklyn waterfront or Governor’s Island.

Good birding!

[nysbirds-l] Wilson’s & Red-necked Phalaropes East Pond Northend…

2021-08-05 Thread Andrew Baksh
Multiple Phalaropes on the Northend of the East Pond at Jamaica Bay Wildlife
Refuge.

In addition to the 2 Wilson’s, I had 2 Red-necked Phalaropes as well. It’s
windy and the birds are jumpy so hoping for better and sustained looks.

Cheers,
