[nysbirds-l] PINK-FOOTED GEESE - Crab Meadow Beach, Suffolk
Good evening, Today, Pete Morris and I had two Pink-footed Geese together in the marsh at Crab Meadow Beach, in Northport, Suffolk Co. The birds appeared to have roosted therein and eventually left to go about their geesely business. Good luck if you wanna see ‘em? [nysbirds-l] Northern Shrike at Glynnwood Farm/Topfield Center
Just heard a Northern Shrike is being seen somewhere in the farm fields between Glynnwood Farm and Topfield Center next to Fahnestock S.P. in Cold Spring off NY-301. Was seen by at least two people in a tree. [nysbirds-l] Eagle at Hmart in WhitePLains!
I was driving down Central Ave. in White Plains about an hour ago passing Hmart when I was quite surprised to see a juvenile Bald Eagle flying in circles about 100 feet or so above the road. It was being semi-harassed by a bunch of crows. It was also seen around 10am this morning by my father in the same place. I also had what was probably the same bird on California Rd. at the intersection with Bevan Pl. next to Twin Lakes in Eastchester yesterday sitting in a tree waiting to come down to a dead rabbit in the road. In 50 years living in the area I have never seen an eagle in either area and certainly not so close. Obviously they are not as scared of people as they used to be. Pretty neat.
