Re: [nysbirds-l] PILEATED WOODPECKER IN THE BRONX

2012-05-08 Thread BernaLincoln
Picking up Peter Post's April theme, the only Pileated Woodpecker I ever
saw in the five boroughs was on 28 April 1999 at Wave Hill, (Riverdale) The
Bronx.

The New York State Ornithological Association has made it easy to look for
such information through its searchable archive of all issues of The
Kingbird, through Vol. 58 (2008).

Go to our Web site:nybirds.org

Re: [nysbirds-l] Rvsd Church Peregrine

2010-11-08 Thread BernaLincoln
Maybe that female Peregrine at Riverside Church, Manhattan, is still
suffering "empty nest syndrome" and complaining about it.

I saw her baby boy, the only male from this year's litter of four, on 22
Sept at East Branch (Sodom) Reservoir in extreme southeast Putnam Co. I read
and reported the code on the colored leg band. He was banded on 28 May, in
the nest. And he seemed to be doing just fine without Mom in Sept.
