[nysbirds-l] Brooklyn ICGUs
This morning there was a 1st cycle ICELAND GULL at Bush Terminal Park, as well as, the previously reported GLAUCOUS GULL. Later in the morning Heydi Lopes and I spotted a 2nd cycle Iceland Gull roosting on one of the derelict wooden barges in Coney Island Creek on the south side of Calvert Vaux Park (aka Dreier-Offerman Park). We then walked west along the edge of the peninsula towards Gravesend Bay. Across the water on the beach in front of Coney Island Creek Park we spotted what appeared to be a third Iceland Gull! I say "appeared" because it is unclear whether this was a different individual from the other two as it took off before we could get really good looks or a photo could be taken. I think it was unlikely to be the bird we saw a few minutes earlier in the creek as we had walked along the water and probably would have noticed it flying passed. With all the nice winter gull sightings in Brooklyn when is the first Ivory Gull going to appear?
