[nysbirds-l] Camaan's Pond
Going by the posts regarding the Black-headed Gull at Camaan's Pond, you'd think it's real easy to get. "Hey, I'm here now and the bird is here now" is the general tone. Well, after a two and a half hour wait (and a failed two hour vigil last weekend), it finally showed up for me. What does that say? That I'm not that good a birder? Maybe. But a point to take from this is that for tomorrow's CBC, it might require someone to stake it out for a while. The Iceland Gull made an appearance today, as well, along with a Great Egret and a Merlin. That would not be a bad haul for a CBC from one little spot. For anyone interested - a lot of people got their own pictures today - I've posted one of mine at http://stevewalternature.com/ .
