[nysbirds-l] South Fork LI: Montauk Lapwings -NO

2012-11-17 Thread Angus Wilson
All previous lapwing spots checked this morning with no success. Only other
birds of note so far are the continuing White-winged Crossbills in the pines
near the IGA supermarket in Montauk Village.

Re: [nysbirds-l] South Fork LI: Montauk Lapwings REFOUND (continues)...

2012-11-11 Thread Andrew Baksh
The Northern Lapwings continue, moving between the area described earlier
by Angus (see e-mail below) and
the south pasture across the road.

Other interesting birds around include a Cackling Goose and a bird that
looks very good for a Dusky Canada (occidentalis).

Sent from somewhere in the field using my mobile device!

This is private land but can be viewed from the Paumanok/Parkway Trail
(white markings) that follows the ridge top above the Theodore Roosevelt
County Park (entrance on N side of Rt 27) just before the Deep Hollow
'Dude' Ranch. Park at the park buildings and then walk up to the gate (be
sure to shut it if shut already) then follow the fence along the ridge and
down into the depression. Thanks to Peter Polshek for relaying the news.

Additionally, there was an unconfirmed report of a Brewers Blackbird near
Rita's Horse Stables (West Lake Drive and Montauk Hwy) by birders searching
for a Myiarchus flycatcher seen by Jorn Ake yesterday. No resightings of
the flycatcher so far.
