 Highlights of reports received July 15 through July 22 from  the 
Niagara Frontier Region include AMERICAN AVOCET, WILLET  and MERLIN.


 July 16, at the mouth of Cattaraugus Creek, on Lake Erie in  
Chautauqua County, 9 AMERICAN AVOCETS and 2 Western WILLETS.  Seen from 
the south breakwall, the AMERICAN AVOCETS have not  been relocated, but 
2 WILLETS were at this location again on  the 19th.


 MERLINS appear to have nested in the Village of Hamburg. Two  to four 
MERLINS recently at Division and Maple Street. In  Buffalo, up to 5 
PEREGRINE FALCONS a few blocks from the  nest site on the University at 
Buffalo Main Street Campus.


 A breeding bird report from southeast Allegany County  described this 
sumer as one of the best in many years. 79  species in the Towns of 
Alfred, Andover and Ward included  RED-SHOULDERED HAWK, BROAD-WINGED 
HAWK, RED-TAILED HAWK,  over a dozen AMERICAN KESTRELS, 6 COMMON 
RAVENS, WINTER WREN  at nest, GOLDEN-CR. KINGLET feeding young, 13 
warbler  species, multiple WHITE-THR. SPARROWS and an unexpected  
NORTHERN BOBWHITE.


 Several reports from the Tonawanda Wildlife Management Area  this 
week, highlighted by over 100 GREAT EGRETS roosting at  the Hunt Club 
Marsh. Also, a pair of BALD EAGLES with one  young on nest, several 
OSPREYS with fledged young, 10 to 20  of both GREEN HERON and BL.-CR. 
NIGHT-HERON, 16 BLACK TERNS  at Cayuga Pool and PROTHONOTARY WARBLER 
along the canal west  of Meadville Road.


 From Chautauqua County this week - RED-SHOULDERED HAWKS in  Sheridan 
and on Meadows Road in Arkwright, 3 SANDERLINGS at  Dunkirk Harbor, 
RED-HEADED WDPKRS. at Point Gratiot Park in  Dunkirk and Saint 
Columbans in Sheridan, 4 ACADIAN  FLYCATCHERS on Bartlett Hill Road in 
Villenova, and 6  warbler species including PINE WARBLER and MOURNING 
WARBLER  at the Canadaway Creek Wildlife Management Area in  Arkwright.


 And from Buffalo this week - CASPIAN TERN at Delaware Park  Lake and 
COMMON NIGHTHAWK over Buffalo State College.
