[nysbirds-l] dune road - EPCAL
Dune road was very quiet today. Large portions of Tiana Bay are frozen over with black ducks and gulls everywhere. Only saw one Northern Harrier that we spooked from the shoulder of the road. Plenty of Scoters near the inlet (on the west side of the jetty) but didn't spend the time to see if anything interesting and unusual was in there. EPCAL was very quiet (did a quick drive-thru) and security was posted at the entrance to the runway. No sighting of the Artists' Lake/Patchogue Lake bald eagle either. Patchogue lake did have a few Canvasback ducks though Also visited the mouth of the Carmans River - a few species of ducks including coots. One Northern Harrier - but nothing else of note. -- - Luke www.birdsoflongisland.blogspot.com -- NYSbirds-L List Info: http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsWELCOME http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsRULES http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsSubscribeConfigurationLeave.htm ARCHIVES: 1) http://www.mail-archive.com/nysbirds-l@cornell.edu/maillist.html 2) http://www.surfbirds.com/birdingmail/Group/NYSBirds-L 3) http://birdingonthe.net/mailinglists/NYSB.html Please submit your observations to eBird: http://ebird.org/content/ebird/ --
