The Pleasures of Not Being Spontaneous There seem to be so many similarities between trading and fighting that it comes as no surprise that traders often resort to martial metaphors. The greatest theoretician of war was the Chinese sage Sun Tzu; and none of his insights from his famous treatise "The Art of War" is better known than his saying that "every battle is won before it is fought". Of course few traders have actually read Sun Tzu. What Sun Tzu meant was that several conditions have to be in place before you engage the enemy: make sure that you choose the battleground; arrive before the enemy does; occupy the high ground; do not reveal the strength of your forces; have the right troops at your disposal; do everything to boost your armys moral and undermine that of your enemy; and choose when and where to attack. Di ASX anda bisa lihat harga naik duluan sebelum berita keluar tanpa kelihatan siapa yang goreng. Contoh yang paling sederhana. Kemarin ada berita di bloomberg "Australia Central Bank Unexpecly raise benchmark interest rate to 6%" Harusnya harena unexpected.. AUD harus menguat terhadap USD. Yang terjadi di lapangan justru sebaliknya.. AUD rally 3 hari sebelum pengumuman dan throw the hammer down .. 1% loss for that day. Belum lagi JP Morgan dan Citygroup yang goreng Euro dari 1.30 ke 1.38 on christmas eve 2003... hanya untuk dihancurkan ke 1.25 dalam 10 hari dan 1.19 di bulan february.. salah satu toko emas di surabaya bangkrut karenanya. Kalau cerita yang lain masih banyak,.. mulai dari YHOO, GOOG,.. Napster,.. etc.. Belive me fund manager atau yang kita sebut bandar di JSX masih jauh lebih baik dari yang lain... Si dirut ini juga lulusan luar, cuma karena si konglomerat suka sama overseas graduates/foreigner, di kantornyapegawai asing slalu mendominasi, so si big bozz slalu menekan ke si dirut tolong cariin orang asing. So dia cari fresh graduate asing sedapatnya. Menurut komentar si Dirut yg orangjawa ini, kebanyakan analis asing di Indonesia adalah Fresh graduate yg mencoba cari gaji lebih besardaripada kerjadi negri asalnya, dan kebanyakan otaknya pas2an, lulusan dariuniversity biasa2 saja,but work in Jakarta can catapult their career.Disini bisa jadi luar biasa soalnya yg mempekerjakan nggak ngerti apa2. Lucunya pada awalnya si analis asing, selama 3 bulan masih di ajarin sama direktur2 lokal, tapi si dirut berkeyakinan "saya harus bisa ngelatih si bule ini ngitung fair value emiten lokal, soalnya gw mau bikin seneng bos". Tapi sesudah 98, si konglomerat rugi besar, dia mulai pecat bule2nya, sampai sekarang dia nggak mau percaya sama analis bule. jadi memang sesudah 98, yg maen di Jakarta kebanyakan bermental bandar. Sediakan/sisakan selalu cash utk portofolio karena setiap tahun pasti ada koreksi besar2an tanpa ada berita negatif. Kalo sudah ada turungede2an baru tanem semua duit kita. Ntar saya kasih tahu bukunya apa itu buku milik bokapttg kelakuan expatriate di negaraasia ( manila, bangkok, tokyo, dan jakarta). Dear ALL : Setelah melihat peta kekuatan rupanya tetap ada beberapa saham yang harus dicermati pergerakannya : TLKM : Sudah pasti ini harus dicermati. Seperti yang sudah diprediksi sama ahli prediksi (Ya iyalah) bahawa sektor Seluler akan memberikan kontribusi keuntungan yang besar bagi TLKM . Bayangin aja operator lain pada sibuk bikin tarif gratis tengah malem.. eh SIMPATI tetap anteng aja bahakan pemakainya nambah.. Bingung kan saya aja bingung. Lebih aneh lagi saya juga pake SIMPATI @[EMAIL PROTECTED]@#% Maklum kalo tengah malem saya kagak pernah telepon-teleponan..Hehe..he Beberapa teman saya para pemain HIGHLANDER seperti bapak Budi Suryono sudah terbangun dan mulai mengamati pasar. Mereka nunggu TLKM di 8400 an. Cuma perang disana pasti akan jadi perang termahal.. mungkin butuh dana 500 M lebih. Semoga para HIGHLANDER mampu menaklukkannya. Why I Don't Care If A Stock Is 'Undervalued' Thursday August 3, 9:33 am ET By Rob Hanna Not a lot to say today. The market tried to sell of hard yesterday and bounced a bit at the end of the day. Today it tried to rally hard, and then fell back near the end of the day. In other words, nothing was accomplished. I remain wary of getting at all aggressive on the long side. In Monday's column I discussed several reasons for this. Of course the biggest reason for not taking too many long trades, is that very few stocks are completing sound basing formations and attempting to break out. Patience is key - both long and short. If a trade meets your criteria, take it. If it doesn't, just wait. If there aren't many trades meeting your criteria, then the market is telling you that the market environment is not favorable to your strategy. That's important information. Listen. After remarking that I saw very few trading opportunities on Monday, I was sent a number of emails explaining to me the tremendous opportunities in some tech stocks. I was told about how valuations in companies like (NASDAQ:EBAY - News), (NASDAQ:YHOO - News), and (NYSE:AMD - News) were becoming attractive. Here's my thought on buying stocks (or ETFs) with charts like these: I do use some reversal strategies that would allow me to take advantage of short-term oversold conditions on occasion. I do not try and hold on to positions with these types of charts for long-term gains. I don't care if they are undervalued. If I'm the first one to realize this, then who knows how long it will be until the market agrees with me? Value buying can be a profitable strategy for large funds with long-term horizons and large research departments. It's a dangerous game for traders - especially in a bear market environment. For all their effort, most bottom-pickers end up with little more than a finger full of ... Harga saham PT medco Energi International berpotensi menuju Rp 4.460 pada tahun 2006 ini. Penilaian itu berdasarkan penetapan valuasi pada beberapa unit bisnis Medco. Per 1 Agustus 2006, menurut data StockWatch, saham Medco ditutup pada Rp 3.775 per saham. Pada periode 2 Januari - ! Agustus saham Medco diperdagangkan pada kisaran Rp 3.400-4.850 per saham.Menurut analis sebuah perusahaan sekuritas asing, target harga sebesar Rp 4.460 diperoleh setelah menilai beberapa unit bisnis Medco. Unit upstream yang memiliki valuasi total sebesar US$ 1,217 miliar memiliki harga Rp 3.215. Sementara untuk Senoro Toili yang bernilai US$ 64 juta sama dengan Rp 169 per saham. Sedangkan divisi eksplorasi dengan nilai total US$ 281 juta atau bernilai Rp 743 per saham. Sementara untuk divisi drilling, methanol dan pembangkit listrik mencapai US$ 743 juta dengan nilai per saham Rp 1.962.Dengan penilaian itu, total enterprice value saham Medco untuk beberapa unit bisnis tersebut mencapai US$ 2,306 miliar atau memiliki valuasi Rp 6.090 per saham. Setelah dikurangi dengan cash US$ 287 juta atau setara dengan Rp 758 per saham dan utang serta kepemilikan minoritas, valuasi saham Medco mencapai Rp 4.560 per saham.Lebih jauh, perusahaan sekuritas asing itu menjelaskan, perkiraan target harga bisa berubah bila persoalan divestasi saham Apexindo mengalami perubahan yang berarti.
