BUMI: Pinjaman CIC Bukan Obligasi, Waran, dan Saham Agustina Melani INILAH.COM, Jakarta - Manajemen PT Bumi Resources Tbk (BUMI) mengakui instrumen utang dari pinjaman China Invesment Corporation (CIC) sebesar US$ 1,9 miliar tidak berupa obligasi, waran dan saham. Hal itu disampaikan Senior Vice President Investor Relations Bumi Resources, Dileep Srivastava,lewat pesan singkat yang diterima INILAH.COM, Sabtu (26/9). Pinjaman CIC kepada BUMI sebesar US$ 1,9 miliar sebagai pinjaman utang jangka panjang. Pinjaman CIC kepada BUMI memiliki potensi untuk membuka kesempatan kerjasama pada saat ini dan ke depannya, tutur Dileep. Dileep mengatakan pinjaman ini digunakan untuk pertumbuhan bisnis batubara BUMI. Pinjaman tersebut adalah utang. Jadi tidak ada obligasi, waran dan saham, kerjasama ini diharapkan bisa membuka kesempatan bagi BUMI dan CIC saat ini dan ke depan tegasnya. Pada keterbukaan informasi BEI, BUMI mendapatkan pinjaman sebesar US$ 1,9 miliar dari CIC. BUMI menyebutkan tujuan pinjaman untuk melunasi seluruh pinjaman perseroan dan anak perusahaan yang ada. Investasi terdiri dari 600 juta dollar AS yang dibayar kembali pada tahun ke- 4, 600 juta dollar AS di tahun ke-5,dan 700 juta dollar AS pada tahun ke-6. *CIC, Glencore, Credit Suisse and Bumi Resources. What are they up to? hmm... [?] Anyway, CIC main investment strategy is to invest worldwide especially in 1. Natural Resources, 2. Technology, 3. Defense. These are basically the sectors that remains laggard in China. (they are very strong on financial, and manufacturing, CIC will NOT invest aggresively on these sectors) CIC inv. policy is to invest passively, it means they will not seek nor want to control/takeover any companies policy. They just want hedge against inflation by pouring liquidity all over the world. They promised tighter and more coordinated financial regulation. However, the G-20 pledges lacked on details, and did not say, for instance, how the proposed peer review process would be enforced. In the first international summit hosted by Obama, the G-20 turned on greedy bankers, agreeing on measure to curbs their bonuses in a bid to encourage more responsible behavior. According to the new agreement, bankers would only get part of their bonuses upfront, while the rest would be dependent on the long-term financial performance of the firm EU leaders had called for links between bankers' pay and the companies' long-term performance and have sought to end bonuses. Sarkozy in particular has lobbied for better financial regulation, warning that the world risked another speculative bubble which when it bursts would put our economies on the edge of the abyss. Yet I've not said it nearly as forcefully as Swiss banker Dr. Konrad Hummler. Here's what he wrote in his recent Wegelin Investment Commentary: It's time to take advantage of the recovery of the U.S. dollar to get one's currency diversification in order. Read between the lines. He's telling you the dollar is going down . . . hard. But don't just take my -- or Dr. Hummler's -- word for it But we're not the only ones giving such advice. If you've been paying attention, then you know that Warren Buffett came out against the dollar in an August New York Times editorial. And Hummler, in his commentary, points out two other investing luminaries who have taken high-profile stands against the dollar: * Bill Gross of Pacific Investment Management Co. (PIMCO), which manages the biggest bond fund in the world, advises investors to sell dollar investments 'before the central banks and sovereign wealth funds do.' * [C]ommodities specialist Jim Rogers . . . announces his new favorite currency -- the Chinese yuan. Now, you can heed these words of warning, or you can stick to your U.S. investing guns. But allow me to suggest that the latter is an irrational position. After all, there's limited downside to diversifying into great companies that do business outside of the United States. There is, however, significant downside to investing in nothing but dollar-denominated investments. It'd be crazy to stash your entire life's savings in one company. It's just as crazy to stash your entire life's savings in one currency. But there's opportunity in the meantime Despite the dollar's precarious, debt-laden position, the currency is in a pretty good place relative to other world currencies -- thanks to investors having abandoned emerging markets for perceived financial safe havens during the recent financial crisis.
