Re: [obsnw] Digest for obsnw@googlegroups.com - 4 updates in 2 topics

2016-02-13 Thread stephen van der spuy
I hope the car guards will be just that,,,car guards,,, and not direct
motorists to park on yellow and red lines,,,and not block other parked cars
from getting out.

Re: [obsnw] Noise from house parties

2016-02-13 Thread Anique van der Vlugt
The Metro Police asked that we rather call 021-596-1999 for noise
complaints.

Thanks, Anique

Hi Jonah
OPS can be called but suspect they too can only ask the revelers to pipe
down 021 447 1066.
Woodstoclk SAPS can be requested and should be able to get the party to
cool down - 10111 or 442 3121 or vehicle Sector 1: 082 302 5525.
Metro Police is effeminately able to attend to the call but are often
thins stretched and can be very effective to give 1 st warning and
secondly a fine on the spot tel 021 480 7700.

I hope this is an acceptable topic for this forum.

In the last few days there have been a couple of very loud house
parties in Alfred Street. In both cases they didn't go on very late
- by 11pm they were nearly silent, in one case after I had asked
them to turn down the music. But leading up to that time they were
really unpleasantly noisy, even for someone living several houses
away. We have small children trying to sleep, as do many people in
this part of the neighbourhood.
What is the protocol in these cases? Do house parties, like the
nightclubs, need to keep their noise inside the property? Both of
these had their music systems out in the garden. Can we call OPS if
they don't respond to reasonable requests to turn it down?

Thanks
