Re: [oi-dev] 1410 package zilstat

2011-09-03 Thread Garrett D'Amore
Richard has been a wee bit busy, but as far as I know his arcstat is the
"canonical" version.

I can drive integration for him, but I think he wanted to do it as part of
learning the illumos integration process for himself.

There's so many versions of arcstat at this point, is Elling and Mike
Herch's the canonical copy now?
Elling said they were working on getting it integrated, then went silent.

Yeah, someone on IRC suggested I package up arcstat as well.

Either way, you make a good point about zilstat & interfaces. I'll move it
over into illumos and send a webrev to illumos-developers.

Thanks for the feedback.

Jeff.

Debugging is twice as hard as writing the code in the first place.
Therefore, if you write the code as cleverly as possible, you are, by
definition, not smart enough to debug it.

Frankly, I'd rather see this integrated into illumos proper. It has
dependencies upon interfaces in the kernel, and IMO it belongs with the kernel.
(Likewise, I'd like to see Richard's arcstat integrated.)

+1 - looks good to me!

We've got a 3 day period where people can comment after which I or
someone else can commit.

Cheers,
