thanks a lot. I can confirm that this solves the problem. So Pino your guess
with kubuntu was right.

I mark this bug as downstream

This is a kubuntu settings problem. See last comment
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kdegraphics/+bug/292098

By "Wu Chung Yi"
There is a solution. First go to system settings.
And go to "Window Behavior" in the 'general' page , then click Window-Specific.
And then delete "Okular initial default size", done!!!

That fixed my okular presentation view problem.

[Okular-devel] [Bug 177317] New: okular displays broken openoffice 3.0 annotations

2008-12-09 Thread Felix Möller
http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=177317

Summary: okular displays broken openoffice 3.0 annotations
   Product: okular
   Version: 0.7.3
  Platform: SuSE RPMs
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: okular-devel@kde.org
ReportedBy: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Version: 0.7.3 (using KDE 4.1.3)
OS:Linux
Installed from:SuSE RPMs

OpenOffice 3 has the feature to add notes to a document. (Einfügen -> Notiz)
(engl: Insert -> Note)

acroread is able to display the note just fine. In okular there is a little
icon shown for the note, but the content is wrong and allways the same it
seems.

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~> rpm -q kde4-okular libpoppler4 OpenOffice_org-writer
acroread
kde4-okular-4.1.3-3.5
libpoppler4-0.10.1-1.1
OpenOffice_org-writer-3.0.0.9-1.4
acroread-8.1.3-51.4

--- Comment #5 from Oscar Fuentes 2008-12-09 18:17:44 ---
Asking on the X.org mailing list [1] yield this information:

The X server does nothing fancy when resources such as pixmaps are deallocated.
Is up to the C library function free() to return memory to the OS. Heap
fragmentation can happen, thus preventing free() from returning memory to the
OS.

So using the X server for caching pages can indeed cause an unbounded growth of
the amount of memory asigned to the X server process.

This bug seems to be mostly about how to bundle Okular's annotations with
documents. Is there a separate bug report about supporting PDF annotations in a
way that is compatible with other PDF readers, e.g. Adobe Reader, or should we
open one? IMHO this would be a very much needed feature, even if the
Okular-specific bundling implementation comes to pass. The main use case for
"standard" PDF annotations is as a collaboration tool; I send you a draft of my
document, you annotate it and send it back. This should of course work
cross-platform and regardless of which PDF reader you and I are using.

So, should we open a bug: "Support editing and saving annotations according to
the PDF standard"? Or keep the whole discussion to this bug?

Works here too, strange.

What you are seeing is the utf marker. Are you using your system in a non-utf8
locale?

Also is that opensuse 11.1?
