Evince (gnome) and the "Adobe Reader" have no problems with such PDF files. See the picture in the attachment. There are three times the same PDF. The first one (left) is the original. The second one (middle) is the crawled PDF in Okular. The third one (right) is the crawled PDF in "Adobe Reader". Unfortunately it doesn't deflate much at all when I close Okular. Right now it was just 168 MB. I opened up a datasheet for the ATMega32 and page up/down through the whole thing on Overview mode and X bloats to 414 MB. Closing it brought it down to 156 MB. Okular's memory option is at "Low". As you scroll up and down it increases memory consumption almost like it has forgotten that it already had pixmaps stored in X and is adding redundant ones. I'm in favour of the compile time option mentioned in #35 if posible and let the distros decide.
