reply to comment 7:
i’m sorry my “patch” isn’t useful, but at least it would be a way to quickly
circumvent the problem until a better solution is found. and “program x does it
equally wrong” is no excuse if we can do it better.

bug in Okular

Version: 0.11.2 (using KDE 4.5.3)
OS:Linux

After the change of a PDF with a Software like "PDF XChange Viewer", Okular
shows the changes in the PDF blurred and "defect".

Evince (gnome) and the "Adobe Reader" have no problems with such PDF files.

See the picture in the attachment.
There are three times the same PDF. The first one (left) is the original. The
second one (middle) is the crawled PDF in Okular. The third one (right) is the
crawled PDF in "Adobe Reader".

Reproducible: Always

[Okular-devel] [Bug 177213] High X server memory consumption

--- Comment #39 from Andrew M 2010-11-11 06:03:56 ---
Another Arch 64 user with Nvidia 260.19.12, Qt 4.7.1 Xorg-server 1.9.2-1 KDE
4.5.3

X takes up around 60 MB on login and will usually bloat to around 180 MB if I
open a couple PDFs in Okular. Unfortunately it doesn't deflate much at all when
I close Okular.

Right now it was just 168 MB. I opened up a datasheet for the ATMega32 and page
up/down through the whole thing on Overview mode and X bloats to 414 MB.
Closing it brought it down to 156 MB. Okular's memory option is at "Low". As
you scroll up and down it increases memory consumption almost like it has
forgotten that it already had pixmaps stored in X and is adding redundant ones.

I'm in favour of the compile time option mentioned in #35 if posible and let
the distros decide. Else a hidden option that can be put in the okularrc config
file.

[Okular-devel] [Bug 256577] New: Okular crashed after I tried rapidly repeated reloads of the 1-page PDF.

2010-11-10 Thread Willy Gommel
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=256577

Summary: Okular crashed after I tried rapidly repeated reloads
of the 1-page PDF.
   Product: okular
   Version: 0.10.5
  Platform: Debian testing
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: okular-devel@kde.org
ReportedBy: w...@spamcop.net

Application: okular (0.10.5)
KDE Platform Version: 4.4.5 (KDE 4.4.5)
Qt Version: 4.6.3
Operating System: Linux 2.6.32-trunk-amd64 x86_64
Distribution: Debian GNU/Linux testing (squeeze)

-- Information about the crash:
I created a little one-page .PDF using OpenOffice.org in landscape and
spreadsheet modes. I opened the document in Okular, promptly discovered a
couple of minor changes to be made to the print out, and reprinted it, leaving
Okular open. I went back to Okular and noted that the page had apparently
already changed as reprinted; however, not trusting this completely, I leaned
on the F5 key for a few moments. Then, after Okular said it had finished
reloading the document all those times, I closed it. That's when the crash
happened.

Thank you very much!! :)
