[okular] [Bug 452488] New: [Feature Request] Open in subwindow/tab

2022-04-11 Thread Michael K.
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=452488

Bug ID: 452488
Summary: [Feature Request] Open in subwindow/tab
   Product: okular
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: PDF backend
  Assignee: okular-devel@kde.org
  Reporter: f4tm...@web.de
  Target Milestone: ---

If the option "Open new file in subwindow" is disabled, the file menu should
offer "Open in subwindow" in addition to "Open".
So you have the chance to work with tabs even if the option is disabled in the
settings.

My bad! Just realized that it doesn't work because the pdf is on a network
folder.
Sorry!
Maybe this report can be used as feature request ;-)

Print 'site' option gets ignored. Tried to extract a single pdf site but it
printed the complete document.

Here is the script that I am using (also on Arch Linux):

#!/bin/sh
unset QT_SCREEN_SCALE_FACTORS
unset QT_AUTO_SCREEN_SCALE_FACTOR
okular "$*"

Unsetting the above env variables (QT_...) restores old (kdelibs4-based)
behavior/rendering.

Same problem here.

- 5K monitor
- QT_SCREEN_SCALE_FACTORS=2
- QT_AUTO_SCREEN_SCALE_FACTOR=0
- xdpyinfo | grep resolution
  resolution:215x215 dots per inch

I have just upgraded to the new release of KF5/plasma which includes KF5-based
okular. Documents look as if they were rendered at lower resolution and then
upscaled. The irony is that the kdelibs4-based okular rendered documents
properly -- at native resolution -- as it was not aware of scaling. (the UI
elements were half-sized though, which was a bit annoying)

This seems to affect every backend. (I've tried PDF, ePub and Mobi)
