--- Comment #3 from postix  ---
Indeed one CPU core ramps up to 100% (I got a Ryzen 5900X) and the fan starts
running loud while scrolling.
For comparison, the built-in PDF viewer of Firefox 128 does not show any of
these issues.

Sorry I was too fast. Just tested it on X11 and it still doesn't work there
with Chromium and Firefox -> reopen.
The title of the bug report is also explicitly about X11.

Can confirm, works fine under Fedora 39 Wayland now.

SUMMARY

I have a series of certain PDFs, which however I may only share privately for
debugging purposes to the corresponding maintainer

```
Creator: Acrobat PDFMaker 17 for PowerPoint
Producer:Adobe PDF Library 17.11.238
Custom Metadata: no
Metadata Stream: yes
Tagged:  yes
UserProperties:  no
Suspects:no
Form:none
JavaScript:  no
Pages:   54
Encrypted:   no
Page size:   720 x 540 pts
Page rot:0
File size:   3434637 bytes
Optimized:   yes
PDF version: 1.7
```

for which Okular is unfortunately unusable:

* When changing the page by either scrolling (mouse wheel, keyboard arrows,
page up / down key) it takes ages
* When zooming in or out, parts of the smaller / bigger page are still
displayed

It works however fine with Xournal++ 1.1.3, which also uses the poppler
library.

Bug ID: 458953
   Summary: Using an annotation tool, moving the cursor over a
link, makes it become a pointer, until hovered over
other Okular UI elements
   Product: okular
   Version: 22.08.0
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: okular-devel@kde.org
  Reporter: pos...@posteo.eu
  Target Milestone: ---

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open a PDF which contains internal links to other pages
2. Use the highlighter annotation tool
3. Move the cursor over a link
4. Move the cursor somewhere else within the PDF
5. Move the cursor over some Okular UI element, like the toolbar and back to
the PDF

OBSERVED RESULT
3. The cursor becomes a pointer
4. The cursor keeps being a pointer
5. The cursor becomes the annotation tool again

EXPECTED RESULT
When leaving the link in step 4., the cursor should change back to the
annotation tool cursor

  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1.  Open Okular
2.  Open a PDF
3.  Click on "File"

OBSERVED RESULT
Save (Ctrl + S) is activated. This confused me, since I thought I could save
the changed rotation of a page, but now it's clear, that it's always activated.

EXPECTED RESULT
Save (Ctrl + S) is deactivated, since there are no changes. Unless there are
good reasons for it?

I felt that the other report made too much the impression, that only a specific
toolbar button, namely "change color", was affected, but not necessarily
others.
If you think the other report was more helpful, feel free to change the bugs'
relation. Whatever it takes to get it resolved. :)

2022-07-25 Thread postix

Bug ID: 457122
   Summary: Make the "Overview" toolbar button a toggle button
   Product: okular

  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: wishlist

SUMMARY

It'd be convenient if the "Overview" toolbar button, which you can add to your
main toolbar, acted like a toggle button:

1. click: Activate overview
2. click: Disable overview and restore previous view like "Single Page", etc.

Right now you can only activate it, but need to navigate to "View Mode" in
order to deactivate the overview again.

In case you got two monitors identical in effective resolution and screen size,
it could be rather useful two stretch Okular over both screens to generate some
kind of `ultra wide` screen.

By doing so it would be convenient if Okular displayed one page on one screen
in the `Facing pages` view mode, i.e. the left page on the left screen and the
right page on the right screen.

Right now it simply stretches its UI over both screens, so that one page may
end up partly on both screens.

If it were possible for Okular to detect which part of the application is on
the left and which is on the right, it would awesome to have such a feature. :)

I can confirm it and that can little bit annoying:

When you first used the text selection mode and then use eg the highlighter
tool from the toolbar to annotate some text, but noticed that you did an error
and want to remove it by right clicking -> delete, it won't work, because the
"Selection mode" becomes enabled again, disabling the context menu.

It would be very helpful if also only single pages could be rotated.

I have for instance some documents, which include a lot of texts but also
tables, which are for convenience printed in landscape mode. It would be
helpful to only rotate these.

By now you can invert colors by a toolbar button. The button is probably not
