I Don't have much to offer... my truck is stock so, the 50 gas tank is
about all I have extra.

I am going to change out the King pins, and front whell bearings etc.
soon... do you have any installation notes you can share?

It was missing when I purchased the 47 gas tank. I have a 50 truck but
the "little bride" of 46 years would not ride in it, with the gas tank
in the cab, so I switched to the 47 tank, and had the cab hole filled
and painted over.

Thx for asking!

Did you ever ge ahold of your filler neck? I've got one but I'm not rightly
sure where.

Eddie Mahon <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: I need a 47-48 Chevy "Gas Tank

inlet of the gas tank to the out side. I have the part that bolts onto
the tank and the rubber hose/tube/flexible pipe that connects the two
parts... I need the part that has the gas cap receiver.
If you have one, please, call me (972) 758-9595, or

2007-10-13 Thread jonhose
I would be more inclined to look
at a Continental TKC80 110-19 or Mefo Explorer
99(made in Germany) designed for heavier, more modern
bikes.

Over on the Adventure Rider forum there is an ongoing
thread about the Mefos. Some of the users are getting
in excess of 12K miles while still reporting excellent
manners on and off pavement. I have a set here now.
The 100-90-90 recommended rim is 2.50x19. That is the
rim size on my Triumph Scrambler, but the XS650 rims
are 1.85x19.

www.klr650.com carries Mefo tires, and in sizes other
than those listed on their website.

[old-chevy-truck] BillyBob Update - brakework and chassis detailing

2007-10-13 Thread Larry R. Kephart
I haven't posted a update since the beginning of summer. I've been working
slow on BillyBob. Also at the beginning of this episode is a link to my
Macungie run logs for those of you who mished that and might be interested
and didn't see them on the other truck forums.

The new Work-in-Progress log entry "Getting back on track" has been posted.
It's been a long, hot, wet summer (on the weekends, anyway) and I haven't
gotten much done. This log entry deals mostly with finishing up the chassis
phase of this detailng cycle. Specifically, it deals with brake work and
painting tasks.

[old-chevy-truck] Re: regarding oils and LEAKS (Synthetic vs regular))

2007-10-13 Thread StevecolumbusGA
I guess its saying run diesal type oils & the cam scuffing will no longer be
an issue to worry aboutZDDP or not <<. I have not looked but are
these diesal oils sythetic Maybe better than what I run now. I run 10-30
Mobil 1 synthetic in my 59, 235 engine. From the few I talk to, the synthetic
does not turn to mud, ---much like oil in a cooking pan does. I asked a very
learned friend about this yesterday just on the synthetic topic, he said
synthetic holds it's viscosity much better whether it be cold, or very hot
running
conditions, whereas non-synthetic oils tend to change viscosity very much
more depending on engine temp. That's why a run synthetic, I do not want my
hot
engine oil, to be the viscosity of water.I'm not the expert, but if we
could see metal to metal contact under a microscope, always been taught to me,
oil is accually whether be 1/100,000 thickness preventing metal to metal
contactand also not to mention a sealer, very important, a sealer. Ain't
no
rubber O rings in there, between the piston rings & block. My idea also of why
valves suffer due to unleaded gasolines now ---unleaded gas took away the
cushion of the valves to seats. That is why I add Lucos Upper Cylinder head
lubricant with every tank of gas. Hope I am not wasting my money.
Although
two different things, sounds like the zinc in oil to prevent cam scuffing,
similar to leaded gasoline preventing valve wear & tear. Like to here advice
from
others. Interesting topic.
