Re: [old-chevy-truck] vin plate

2008-08-19 Thread James Tye
There are so many gray areas to obtain a title. Having a receit for each and
every part as in home built motorcycles, ITS title service. I'd be afraid to
sell you a vin plate as this would make me an accessory to something. Door
sill plates can be had at any restoration place, number stamps from any
machinist supply place. I had my old engine and the title with numbers on it.
I took it to the highway patrol, got a receit for the new engine showed them
what I had and they issued me a VIN of the 17 digit type, so my '49 with '52
cab is titled legit. The truck was also put together from scrap parts. Find
an engine that is blown or throwed a rod, stuck and as long as the title
matches the number, you can title. No need to risk impoundment by phonying up
a door sill plate.
