It’s a 1951 powerglide and goes behind a splasher 235 engine From: old-chevy-truck@yahoogroups.com [mailto:old-chevy-truck@yahoogroups.com] On Behalf Of Brenda and Robert Greulich Sent: Friday, October 04, 2013 12:33 PM To: old-chevy-truck@yahoogroups.com Subject: Re: [old-chevy-truck] Cast Iron Powerglide for 6 or 8 cylinder IN GOD I TRUST. RE: [old-chevy-truck] Cast Iron Powerglide
I have a complete automatic transmission (I believe Powerglide) that came connected to the 261 I picked up earlier this year. I am not planning on using the auto trans so it is available. Clean looking package, I believe the 261 is 1955 and came out of a large truck. Seller claimed to have driven the truck with this trans from Oregon down to Central California where the transmission and I are located. He claimed it worked well – I have no idea of the condition except that is looks very clean on the outside. PM if interested. A 55 Chevy truck with an automatic transmission would have a 4 speed Hydra-Matic, not a 2 speed Powerglide.
