Re: [old-chevy-truck] link to aircraft safety wired bolts

2013-06-12 Thread Rick Wagner
I think you are referring to the output shaft yoke then. That is a whole
other story. My guess is that when this yoke came loose the first time(or
was removed and not properly torqued back on)it likely did some irreparable
damage to the output shaft itself and the yoke. This being said...you will
need to locate the output shaft and a good yoke with nut to fix it. Or you
can more that likely come up with another truck four speed that you can
replace yours with. I have a couple and would let one go on the cheap side.
Shipping would be over the top on price I think. I am in Kansas City area.
I am sure there are others to be had out there.

The bolt I'm talking about is in the center of the drive shaft. I'm not
sure if I have the nomenclature right but I would describe it as the bolt
that holds the front half of the u joint into the transmission. It threads
into the center of the splined shaft on the end of the transmission. It's
not one of the multiple bolts that hold the actual u joint in place.

Does anyone else have this bolt? I have a 4 speed tranny.

 Thanks,
 Luke
