RE: [old-chevy-truck] Re: Engine paint color/ vender recommendation

2013-08-08 Thread Jim
Too dark. Several years ago when I was restoring my 1932 Chevrolet Deluxe
Roadster I did a lot of research and found that Jim Carter had the most
accurate engine paint.

Go to: http://www.oldchevytrucks.com/cart/product.asp?prodid=PT115
 &i=|engine%20paint|||32?sdes=engine%20paint|

Hope this helps,

Jim V.

I found this link that shows gray engine paint. Does this look to be the
correct color to you all?

I posted this earlier and I think it's about the closest you can come in a
rattle can spray:  DE1611 - New Ford Gray (Close to AD Chevy
truck engine gray.)  You can usually find it at any store that carries a
variety of engine paint.

Agreed. This looks darker than the Hirsch paint, which is too dark.
I was told by an old timer that there was some variation in the gray that
was applied at the different factories, and while the darker can be
acceptable, many Chevy "strict constructionists" might not agree.

The correct paint from Jim Carter's comes in quart cans. Any good local
auto paint store can put it in spray cans for you at a nominal cost.

Good Luck,
