Probably a 4.11 or 4.56. My bet it is a 4.11

Did the other wheel turn at all?

Here are the possibilities:

1. If the other wheel turned the same direction as the one you turned
by hand (not likely - only happens with posi-track rear ends) then you truly
do have a 2.25:1 ratio rear gear.

2. If one wheel was still while you turned another (probably what
happened to you) then you need to multiply the number of turns by 2 (2.25 x
2 = 4.5) and most likely you have a 4.57:1 ratio rear gear.

3. If one wheel turned some, but not as much as the other, you need to
put it back on the ground so it doesn't move and try again.

If both wheels are off the ground, and the trans is in neutral, the opposite
wheel is supposed to turn the other direction. Bill in Oregon

Hi truckers
Trying to figure out the rear end ratio on my 46 3/4 ton. I read an article
on the web which says to jack up the rearend (both wheels) and turn one
wheel a complete revolution while counting the revolutions of the drive
shaft. I did just that and my drive shaft turns a little more that 2 1/4
turns ( the other wheel does not turn). Is this procedure correct? If so it
does not make sense. My axle ratio could not possibly be 2.25 (or so) : 1. I

thought it would be closer to 4 or 5 to 1. Any thoughts?
