[OmniOS-discuss] Pull request?

2017-05-25 Thread Volker A. Brandt
Hello all!

As I pointed out in March, the package service/network/ntp is broken.
Back then, I was told to submit a pull request. Even though I find it
a bit much to deal with setting up all that infrastrucure at Github
for 14 characters (" overlay=allow") in an IPS manifest, I guess it
is a given that further OmniOS development happens in Github, so there
is no way around it.

Assuming I do have a pull request, what would happen then? Would
someone be willing and able to accept it? Would the fix have to go
into Bloody first? Would there be an eventual update to 022 at some
later date? Who would build and sign the package and roll it out
into the repository?

Thanks -- Volker

Gather network statistics while issue accrue.

*netstat -Td -s 1|awk '/tcpRetrans/||/tcp.*Dup/||/ AM / || / PM /'*

Also check differences between nfs latency and zfs

I don't seem to understand. Did your host not respond to the pings you sent to
it?
I do run a couple of r020 boxes which are part of a RSF-1 cluster and which are
serving NFS to a bunch of clients: OracleVM and VMWare. I also have all of my
storage/client conencts as "active" LACP connects and I don't have any issues
with those.

If you are experiencing network issues, than the rest of your issue might well
be caused by that, of course.

I will update ofc but i can't shut down right now a storage unit..
Only 2 times in 5 months the problem occurred so i can not track the
problem. I should be ready to find out what it is next time.
I need to solve the issue completely and to solve the problem I need to
understand WHY its happening. Right now I have no idea...

BTW: while the problem occurs I tried to ping my server and Guess what? My
network alives.
BTW 2: I'm using active-active LACP. Could this be the reason?

[OmniOS-discuss] NFS & SMB connection freezes 30-40 second sometimes.

2017-05-25 Thread Özkan Göksu
Hello.

I use "omnios-r151020-b5b8c75" and I have small healthy ZFS storage (Zpool
status & Zfs list link )
The system has been running for about 5 months and 2 times the issue has
occurred.

SMB & NFS both freezes. All jobs are freezes. Vmware freezes.
If i try a new SMB or NFS connection its just waiting... It's like the
whole world is frozen.
But after 30-40 second.. Everything continues as it is and working
properly.

I did a very deep log search, but I could not find anything...
Dmesg clear,
/var/adm/messages clear..
/var/log/syslog clear..

There is not even one log!
Have you ever experienced this problem before?
