Hello ONAPers,

Good news, we finally have the Amsterdam code base ready for the vFW

I’ve gathered some data from Michael’s CD system to determine the size of the
deployment – see the attached excel spreadsheet. This data is from December
1st, just before noon EST. Here is a graph that summarizes the memory
requirements:
[cid:image001.png@01D36AAD.03CE1400]
There are only 7 containers with memory usage over 1.5 GB.

The total memory usage peaks at just over 50 GB (my analysis was done just
after the peak so the numbers are a little lower):
[cid:image005.png@01D36AAD.03CE1400]

Please keep in mind that there is no traffic on this CD systems so actually
usage in a real-world deployment will be higher.

Cheers,
Roger

I don’t think there is a real relationship between number of containers and
resource needed, it mainly depends on what kind of computation you are doing. I
leave the answer to the experts (OOM team) but a while ago I was told that on
average you roughly need 2 GB per container, but I don’t know how accurate this
is.

Today’s OOM cluster is 64 GB (without DCAE). That seems OK for non-replicated
ONAP.

That does make sense – perhaps another set of columns or separate table for
container data.

How do you measure/estimate the memory needed for a container ?

Brian,

Thanks for the clarification, I was also confused. Resource assessment is
important for HEAT, which needs to know #CPUs, memory, etc. of each specific VM.

If we use OOM for Beijing (as I understand), in my opinion the right way to
think about it is container-level, rather than VM-level. This means that PTLs
should tell how many instances of their component they need (or, put in another
way, how many replicas of their containers they need). Resource sizing is then
made at cluster level. Depending on how many containers we’ll need to support,
the OOM cluster size will be adjusted.

Does it make sense?

Team,
We would like to thank everyone of the 20+ onap developers (Alexis de

Barsky, Ramki Krishnan, Arun Arora, Jerry Flood, Jimmy Forsyth, Ramesh
Tammana, Mars Toktonaliev, Borislav GlozmanJerry Flood, Joanna Xu, Gordon
Olson...) that helped out greatly with testing the new vFWCL flow in the 1200
HEAT and 1100 OOM meetings - on top of all the assistance via wiki comments and
onap-discuss config - since we have multiple full videos from Marco and Alexis
C. - of the process and recordings of the workarounds/JIRA's I think we can
concentrate on finishing vFWCL deployment in OOM. I will close the 1200 HEAT
meetings and work off the wiki and onap-discuss as we have. We raised/reopened
a couple JIRAs encountered during the flows.

The meeting today was exclusively OOM master - OOM R1 tomorrow
Today we had very good progress getting up to service creation in OOM -
Alexis, Brian and Marco identified and were critical in navigating several
configuration issues/JIRAs and a lot of additional operational and devops paths.
Alexis and Brian have several gerrit reviews in the queue so we can
continue tomorrow into VNF creation.

The daily videos are uploaded to the wiki as a record of all
operational/workaround changes/issues we encountered. Will also before the 2
conferences get final artifacts, details and postman templates up and move the
page.

 Thank you
 /Michael

Hi UUI team,

My robot health check is failing for UUI.

usecaseui-gui API Health Check| FAIL |
502 != 200

I realized that on multi-service VM, refrepo:1.0-STAGING-latest and
postgres:latest containers were not running as their docker images did not get
pulled. I manually ran vnfsdk_vm_init.sh which pulled those 2 docker images and
started the containers. Those 2 containers' logs also look ok. But healthcheck
is still failing.

I attempted with below 2 curl commands as well (by referring to init scripts)
but no luck. Do I have to do anything else to get this health check passed ?

Hi Marco,

Amsterdam release deployment was done successfully. No AAI issue was seen. 
We are currently ignoring DCAE deployment for the moment due to which its

Do we need to do anything manually to bring up DCAE or is it now initializing
smoothly in Amsterdam release?

BTW, I still saw the ‘/opt is blank’ issue with my multi-services and robot

Hi Arun,

No, they aren’t known issues. However, I suggest you to use the templates here:
https://nexus.onap.org/content/sites/raw/org.onap.demo/heat/ONAP/1.1.1/
or in Gerrit (demo repo – Amsterdam branch). The template you are using has
docker images released for Amsterdam but use the master branch that is for
Beijing. That worked soon after the release, but some teams have already made
new contributions to master that may not be necessarily in sync with the docker
released for Amsterdam.

Also, please get the latest docker version numbers from the Manifest file in
the Integration repo:
https://gerrit.onap.org/r/gitweb?p=integration.git;a=blob;f=version-manifest/src/main/resources/docker-manifest.csv;h=35e992adc0678ccd98328d33c9a5ffc88dbb4dfa;hb=refs/heads/amsterdam

Hi Arun,

No, they aren’t known issues. However, I suggest you to use the templates here:
https://nexus.onap.org/content/sites/raw/org.onap.demo/heat/ONAP/1.1.1/
or in Gerrit (demo repo – Amsterdam branch). The template you are using has
docker images released for Amsterdam but use the master branch that is for
Beijing. That worked soon after the release, but some teams have already made
new contributions to master that may not be necessarily in sync with the docker
released for Amsterdam.

Also, please get the latest docker version numbers from the Manifest file in
the Integration repo:
https://gerrit.onap.org/r/gitweb?p=integration.git;a=blob;f=version-manifest/src/main/resources/docker-manifest.csv;h=35e992adc0678ccd98328d33c9a5ffc88dbb4dfa;hb=refs/heads/amsterdam

Thanks,
Marco

[onap-discuss] [ccsdk] Proposal : change time of weekly CCSDK project team meeting

2017-12-01 Thread TIMONEY, DAN
CCSDK team,

Our weekly meeting time (Tuesdays @ 9 PM EST) was originally selected by Doodle
poll last year. As the project has evolved, most attendees on that call have
been located in the US, where that is not a very convenient time.

I would like to propose that we move our call instead to a more convenient time
for regular attendees.

I created a new Doodle poll to vote on a time :
https://doodle.com/poll/yvrkkpnw5c997mam . Note – that poll is just for next
week’s call (I couldn’t see a way to create a Doodle for a recurring time),
but the intent is for this to be the new established meeting time.

I tried to find a time that didn’t not conflict with other ONAP meetings –
which is pretty rare – so there are not many choices (Friday mornings at 11:00
or 11:30 EST were the 2 I suggested).

Please vote for the time that works best for you by next Monday COB.

Thanks!
Dan

Re: [onap-discuss] Multiservices, Robot VMs come up without config directory and install script. Problem with AAI1 init

2017-12-01 Thread Arun Arora (c)
Hi Marco,

I re-deployed the stack with Amsterdam branch. Also the docker versions
mentioned for all VMs in the env file seem latest except robot VM. I compared
and didn’t see version difference apart from the robot VM of which there was no
docker entry in the docker-manifest.csv file. Should it be fine?
I will update as things move ahead.

Thanks,
Arun

[onap-discuss] [Amsterdam][SDC] Chef recipe failure in sdc-es

2017-12-01 Thread Alexis de Talhouët
Hi experts,

I just found out that sdc-es has chef recipe failure in its logs. See bellow
logs.

I don’t know if this is harmful, but I was wondering if this is a known issue.

Regards,
Alexis

Hi Arun,

what does 'docker logs' say about the failing docker container? Maybe it
is the same issue as AAI-460

Re: [onap-discuss] Multiservices, Robot VMs come up without config directory and install script. Problem with AAI1 init

2017-12-01 Thread PLATANIA, MARCO (MARCO)
Hi Arun,

No, they aren’t known issues. However, I suggest you to use the templates here:
https://nexus.onap.org/content/sites/raw/org.onap.demo/heat/ONAP/1.1.1/ or in
Gerrit (demo repo – Amsterdam branch). The template you are using has docker
images released for Amsterdam but use the master branch that is for Beijing.
That worked soon after the release, but some teams have already made new
contributions to master that may not be necessarily in sync with the docker
released for Amsterdam.

Also, please get the latest docker version numbers from the Manifest file in
the Integration repo:
https://gerrit.onap.org/r/gitweb?p=integration.git;a=blob;f=version-manifest/src/main/resources/docker-manifest.csv;h=35e992adc0678ccd98328d33c9a5ffc88dbb4dfa;hb=refs/heads/amsterdam

Thanks,
Marco

[onap-discuss] [uui] UUI healthcheck is failing

2017-12-01 Thread Kedar Ambekar
Hi UUI team,

My robot health check is failing for UUI.

usecaseui-gui API Health Check| FAIL |
502 != 200

Do I have to do anything else to get this health check passed ?

curl -X POST -H "Content-Type: application/json" -d '{"serviceName":

Hi Tao,

Thank you.

I installed ONAP Amsterdam release and health status are reporting success.
So I believe, dependent components are running properly.

I referred the readthedocs and could not find much details on how to use
this UUI. Can you please share more details. Thanks.

Regards

Kanagaraj M

Subject: 答复: [onap-discuss] [uui] How to access Usecase UI

Hi, Kanagaraj

If you are going to use onap-portal to access UUI, you’d better add UUI
portal by Application Onboarding.

The URL is http://$UUI_VM_IP/iui/usecaseui

Of course you can access UUI portal simply via URL
http://$UUI_VM_IP:8080/iui/usecaseui

By the way, MSB and DmaaP should been installed in your environment because
UUI is working based on these two components.

Best regards,

Tao
