Re: [onap-discuss] [oom] 110 kubernetes pod limit increase for single node dev deployment testing - procedure

2018-09-06 Thread Eric Debeau
Hi Mike

Yes, I am aware about this work ;-)

But, it would not reduce the memory to be used as long as most of Docker are
launched with JVM using ‘big’ heap size.
I am working to reduce the heap size for various components. I hope that I can
share valuable results in the next weeks.

I agree that we would get good results by optimizing data bases (using various
Cassandra databases is not optimized).

Best Regards

Eric

Hi Eric,

Are you familiar with the resource limits that are being added to the helm
charts (for all projects) under OOM-1145
?
One of the benefits of this work is to set the minimum and maximum limits for
memory used by each onap component (pod).
Are you working on something similar or do you have any insight that you can
share with the teams that might help us get the best results out of this effort?

As a side note, one of the largest reductions in memory usage will most likely
come as part of Dublin, in the form of a shared database cluster. This would be
instead of each project spinning up their own cluster instances in order to
meet S3P requirements.

Thanks,
Mike.

Re: [onap-discuss] APPC is not healthy install error #oom #appc #install #opendaylight-releng

2018-09-06 Thread jkzcristiano
Aaron, thank you for that command it helps a lot to follow what is going on.

Taka, I modified the values.yaml of appc as:

# probe configuration parameters
liveness:
initialDelaySeconds: 100 # initially it was set to 10
  periodSeconds: 10
  # necessary to disable liveness probe when setting breakpoints
  # in debugger so K8s doesn't restart unresponsive container
  enabled: true

readiness:
initialDelaySeconds: 100 # initially it was set to 10
  periodSeconds: 10

Now it worked!!! Thank you very much :)

Anayway, in case anyone experiences the same issue, just note that "during the
process the error still appears but after more than 10 min. it dissapears!"

Kind Regards

No timeout should need to be changed. The readiness state should be ready after
the install completes. You can run the command below to see the installation
status:

Dear all,

I am experiencing an issue during APPC service installation. I installed ONAP
Beijing before (like 3-4 times) and never had that problem. So, it is strange.
I tried to change images in values.yaml to older ones but the same issue (e.g.,
from 1.4.0-SNAPSHOT-latest to 1.4.0-SNAPSHOT-20180901T133033Z).

Below my APPC pods:
ubuntu@rancher:~/oom/kubernetes$ kubectl get pods --all-namespaces -o=wide |
grep appc
onap onap-appc-appc-0
   1/2 Running 1 14m 10.42.71.236compute2

Running 0 14m 10.42.189.225 compute1

The "onap-appc-appc-0" pod is restarted repeatedly as time goes by.

This is the output from K8s dashboard (this error also appears
here
 without any solution):

Readiness probe failed: APPC is not healthy. ++ ps -e ++ grep startODL ++ wc -l

perm create org.onap.aai.resources * delete org.onap.aai.resources_all
user role add d...@people.osaaf.org org.onap.aai.resources_all #just an

Re: [onap-discuss] [integration] Problem with opening Jenkins logs

2018-09-06 Thread Gary Wu
Hi Marcin,

That link is not accessible due to enhanced Jenkins security requirements. The
workaround is as follows:

· Start from a particular build, e.g.:
http://onapci.org/jenkins/job/windriver-oom-staging-daily/46/

· Click on “Browse results” (middle bottom) which goes to
http://onapci.org/jenkins/job/windriver-oom-staging-daily/46/robot/

· Click on “Original result files” (middle of page), which goes to
http://onapci.org/jenkins/job/windriver-oom-staging-daily/46/robot/report/

· Click on “all files in zip”

· Then you can open the output and log files from within the downloaded
zip file.

Thanks,
Gary

Hi Helen,
Thank you for answer.

Those logs are not exactly what I’m looking for.
There is a report generated by Robot from test execution, which contains each
particular step from each keyword with all parameters , all variables and
outputs from every single line executed during robot test case.
It’s some example:
[cid:image001.jpg@01D445B7.F9860A70]

This log should be accessible for each build exactly in mentioned by me space
[cid:image002.png@01D445B7.F9860A70]

Somehow it’s not accessible, probably because of Jenkins configuration.

Hi, Marcin,

Could you try the following url? (That site was set privately, not from LF)

http://onapci.org/jenkins/

And from there, try the console output directly.
http://onapci.org/jenkins/job/windriver-sb02-oom-staging-manual/3/console

Or you could go to the real hosted site, those are from open labs, to find
those logs as well.

Hi,

I’m not able to view any Jenkins Robot report or log files from test execution.
Example

I found out error message “Blocked script execution in '' because the

in browser console and when I google it, seems to be some lack of settings in

Are you familiar with this problem? Can someone help to solve it?

[onap-discuss] [SO] about Benchmark specific Zoom meeting arrangement

2018-09-06 Thread Hongliang Bian

Hi Brian,

As we have discussed during yesterday Zoom meeting we can set up Benchmark
specific meeting. I have discussed with my team, and they are OK to arrange the
meeting at night in Beijing time for example either 9:00 or 10:00 pm.

Since we don’t want to occupy too much of your time and make the meeting more
efficient, we think one meeting a week is OK. We can send email for ordinary
discussion and leave the tough issue to the meeting. And also we are OK with
any day during the weekday so please pick a day as you convenience. ThanksJ

Hi, Brian:

We want to know which database table can record vnf data or instance data
or requests data when we create vcpe use case?

And where are the tables located? SO or SDC or SDNC database? How to
check it?

Like this, when we create vbrg instance by running vcpe.py brg script, SO
docker will record what data and write the data into which database tables when
SO docker received vcpe’s request?

In Casablanca this utilizes a database, making the cloud configuration easier

We are not suggesting to add “HPA receiving service” to be part of the “Broker”

Hi George,

Unfortunately you got caught up in a nodeport conflict. Nodeports provide the
mechanism for external access to ports within an ONAP deployment and management
of nodeport allocation is manual which resulted in this conflict. The OOM team
is looking at alternative solutions to exposing all of these ports and in the
short term Michael has generously re-allocated some ports to try to resolve the
issue. Unless one deploys all of ONAP a nodeport conflict may not be seen after
what seems like a simple fix so extra caution is advised when changing node
ports.

Thanks for raising the issue.

Cheers,
Roger

I tried to install again after another “helm delete –purge,” but there were a
lot of residual components left after the failed earlier installation and then
the delete. I went into an etcd container and deleted all of the related

I tried again to do a complete installation. I checked out the master branch
and did a pull to update and then entered:

sudo helm delete --purge development (the name I had used)

There were some residual deployments that survived the delete, most of them
related to DMaaP. I deleted them manually and then upgraded helm from 2.8.2 to
2.9.1, removed and rebuilt the helm repo local, and did a ‘make all’ in
oom/kubernetes. I then entered:

sudo helm install local/onap -n onap --namespace onap

But got this error: Error: release onap failed: Service "dmaap-dr-prov" is
invalid: spec.ports[0].nodePort: Invalid value: 30259: provided port is already
allocated

I’m pretty sure that I had deleted all of the residual DMaaP deployments. Any
suggestions?

George

Team,
AAF, CLAMP, POMBA, Integration, OOM,
As James has iterated – when you add/change a nodeport – do a full helm
install/upgrade of your onap deployment – with “all” pods on – not just the vFW
subset where several pods are disabled via –set .enabled=false – use
the default/inferred deployment with no -f override. Running a subset of onap
for development, to fit in a 64g vm or to reduce the pod count is OK but when
submitting run the full system if possible or at least your change with
onap-minimal (the traditional vFW pods) – and then a 2nd deploy with the rest
of ONAP for vCPE/vVOLTE (the parts that are normally disabled for vFW)

I put a fix in for clamp where they now have nodeport 58 (previously
reserved for log/logdemonode) in
https://wiki.onap.org/display/DW/OOM+NodePort+List instead of the conflicted
port with pomba – 34.
I’ll fix my ELK/log RI container to use 304xx later – it is not part of the
requirements.yaml (it only shares the namespace) – so there is no conflict
there until I bring up the 2nd deployment.
https://gerrit.onap.org/r/#/c/64545/
Tested and ready for merge.

Some background on 63235 - as we need a 304xx nodeport - this jira is
really 2 parts (logging and exposing a new port) - we failed to test the
conflict with pomba because my AWS CD system was temporarily not running -

You can use this:

Yes, there is a manual option for uploading the blueprint to SDC.

Please note the you should upload the artifact to the VF in the service, set
the artifactType to be DCAE_INVENTORY_BLUEPRINT, the file name should have
suffix of “event_proc_bp.yaml”

In more details:

In SDC:

  1. open a service for editing -> go to Composition tab -> choose the VF in
the canvas you wish to attach your artifact to (verify that the right tab is
showing the info of the VF) -> in the right menu, select “deployment artifact”

[cid:image001.jpg@01D445F7.787C2EB0]

  1. click on “Add Artifact”, select the artifact type, fill necessary fields
and upload the artifact (pay attention your artifact has the suffix
“event_proc_bp.yaml” - it was requested by DCAE inventory)

[cid:image002.jpg@01D445F7.787C2EB0]

  1. After adding the artifact , you should checkin the service (you can do it
from the UI of-course)
  2. Distribution flow requires several steps: submit for testing, testing and
certifying by user with tester role, approving for distribution by user with
governor role and distribution by user with Ops role.

Hi,Seb,

Thank you for your quick response. Could you point me to the how-to of
attaching a
blueprint to a VF in SDC?

BTW, you meant the blueprint for each of the DCAE component to be manually
created first, right?

Is there an example of a complete CL blueprint?

Thanks a lot.

Hi,
Unless I’m mistaken, you can’t, as DCAE-ds is not part of the Beijing release.
I’m not even sure it will be delivered in Casablanca
You have to create manually the blueprint and attach it to a VF in SDC, then
deploy it

Anybody knows how to enable DCAE-DS plugin in SDC at the portal in Beijing

Has anyone really use DCAE-DS to create CL blueprint for CLAMP in R2?

Thanks a lot!

Hi,
In beijing the work flow was not fully integrated into sdc.

You can do this only on the master branch for Casablanca.

[onap-discuss] APPC is not healthy install error #oom #appc #install #opendaylight-releng

2018-09-06 Thread jkzcristiano
Dear all,

I am experiencing an issue during APPC service installation. I installed ONAP
Beijing before (like 3-4 times) and never had that problem. So, it is strange.
I tried to change images in values.yaml to older ones but the same issue (e.g.,
from 1.4.0-SNAPSHOT-latest to 1.4.0-SNAPSHOT-20180901T133033Z).

Below my APPC pods:

ubuntu@rancher:~/oom/kubernetes$ kubectl get pods --all-namespaces -o=wide |
grep appc
onap          onap-appc-appc-0

Running   0          14m       10.42.189.225   compute1

The "onap-appc-appc-0" pod is restarted repeatedly as time goes by.

This is the output from K8s dashboard (this error also appears here (
https://wiki.onap.org/questions/36964316/beijing-install-pods-fails-to-start-and-openstack-configuration

Re: [onap-discuss] OOM Beijing HW requirements

2018-09-06 Thread Michal Ptacek
Thank you very much Michael, very useful link indeed

To be honest we already resigned on all-in-one deployments and doing mainly 3
VMs deployment for Beijing ONAP,

One of the reasons was this 110 pods limit, but we had also another challenge
for all-in-one (single VM) ONAP deployment

Rancher networking was collapsing in our case after some time (usually after
24-36hrs), symptom was that when running „kubectl get cs“

there was failed etcd check, this problem disappeared when we moved rancher
server to other node, so practically we thought that

having rancher server collocated with k8s master node is a bad idea, so I am
wondering if there are really some working all-in-one ONAP deployments

which can run longer …. did you face the same problem ?

thanks again,

Michal

Hi Michal,

The limit of 110 pods applies per node so if you add another node (or two) to
your cluster you’ll avoid this problem. We’ve had problems in the past with
multi-node configurations but that seems to be behind us. I’ll put a note in
the documentation – thanks for reporting the problem.

Cheers,
Roger

Subject: [onap-discuss] OOM Beijing HW requirements

Hi all,

I am trying to deploy latest ONAP (Beijing) using OOM (master branch) and I
found some challenges using suggested HW resources for all-in-one (rancher
server + k8s host on single node) deployment of ONAP:

HW resources:

*   24 VCPU

*128G RAM

*500G disc space

*rhel7.4 os

*rancher 1.6.14

*kubernetes 1.8.10

*helm 2.8.2

*kubectl 1.8.12

*docker 17.03-ce

Problem:

some random pods are unable to spawn and are on "Pending" state with error "No
nodes are available that match all of the predicates: Insufficient pods (1).“

Analyzis:

it seems that mine server can allocate max. 110 pods, which I found from
"kubectl describe nodes" output

...

Allocatable:

cpu: 24

memory: 102861656Ki

pods:110

...

full ONAP deployment with all components enabled might be 120+ pods but I did
not get even that 110 running,

maybe some race-condition for latest pods. If I disable 5+ components in
onap/values.yaml, it will fit into that server but then it seems that "Minimum
Hardware Configuration" described in

http://onap.readthedocs.io/en/latest/submodules/oom.git/docs/oom_cloud_setup_guide.html

is wrong (120GB RAM, 160G disc, 16vCPU)

or is there any hint how to increase that maximum number of allocatable pods ?

thanks,

Michal
