[onap-discuss] [dcae][ves][bbs] VES Event ID

2019-02-11 Thread Xin Miao
Hi, Ben,

One question:

- In 5G use cases, how the PNF-Registration Event ID field is actually
used based on its computing rule or does it really matter?
In case of BBS, the event ID is defined as such:

o unique per CPE/ONT proxied - incremented as described, which follows the
definition
here<https://wiki.onap.org/display/DW/5G+-+PNF+Plug+and+Play#id-5G-PNFPlugandPlay-STAGE3-PNFREGISTRATIONVESEVENT>.

oIn case of ONT Re-registration, will the digital portion of the eventId
need to be reset? How significantwill it be if we do not do re-set at all?

Thank you and best regards,

Xin Miao

Hi Xin,

Yes, the plan is to unify everything so that CLAMP will support APEX policies.

Thanks for your clarification. That is the part I missed.

We will have the operational policy defined and make it a complete ‘open loop’.

@Liam, CLAMP will support it in Dublin if we define an APEX policy for this

Of course, we are going to have configuration policies defined for RCC, VES
Mapper, PRH in the same service model along with this one.

Xin,

I would not consider that an “Open Loop”. It is an incomplete Control Loop
because the DCAE mS will be generating CL event messages that the Policy
Framework will not have a policy for. This is poor practice to leave something
so open ended and I will not support it.

Our definition of an Open Loop requires at least an Operational Policy in this
format:

Hi, VJ,

Thanks for the quick answer.

I prefer to go through SDC and CLAMP for the deployment. My question here is
the if there is no operational policy associated with the workflow, can we
still deploy the MS through CLAMP since it is not really a ‘closed’ loop
conceptually but an ‘open’ one instead?

To be more précised with my example with 1 service and 4 vnf, you will have a
total of 4 CL(blueprints) in the service (one for each vnf).

For Policy there is no limitation on the number of control loops you can have.
All the use cases in ONAP that have control loops should be able to work
together in one Drools controller. But we recommend separate Drools controllers
for each for simplicity.

***Security Advisory: This Message Originated Outside of AT&T ***
Reference http://cso.att.com/EmailSecurity/IDSP.html for more information.
Currently there is an historic limitation in CLAMP which means you can only
have one blueprint per vnf in a service.
Meaning if you have one service with 4 vnf, you can only associate one
blueprint and therefore on CL for each vnf.
We plan to remove that limitation in Dublin.

Secondly for a given blueprint(for a vnf inside a service, see previous
remark), you can only deploy it once in DCAE, meaning you cannot make several
deployment of the same “blueprint_id”(identifier of the blueprint) in
DCAE(which makes sense actually).

Hi Xin Miao,

For SNMP collector, eventID is currently same hardcoded string on mapper side
for all the events.

If I remember right, Alok from ATT had mentioned in a DCAE call that,
collector will add a field for it which Mapper will use. May be we can talk on
this with Vijay.

We can’t have any programming logic in the mapping file. Suggest you add a

BTW, you meant the blueprint for each of the DCAE component to be manually

Is there an example of a complete CL blueprint?

Hi,
Unless I’m mistaken, you can’t, as DCAE-ds is not part of the Beijing release.
I’m not even sure it will be delivered in Casablanca
You have to create manually the blueprint and attach it to a VF in SDC, then
deploy it

2018-08-30 Thread Xin Miao
Anybody knows how to enable DCAE-DS plugin in SDC at the portal in Beijing
Release? Or, point me to the right documents or demo?

Has anyone really use DCAE-DS to create CL blueprint for CLAMP in R2?

Thanks a lot!

Hi, Adam,

Thanks for the instructions on Clamp configuration.

One more question:
Is there a user guid or how to for DCAE-Design Studio at SDC? Clamp migrates to
DCAE-DS. Correct?

In Beijing release, can use see DCAE-DS tab at SDC by default?

Hi Xin,

Please check out applicationProperties.json in clamp. There is a param called
clamp.config.files.globalProperties.

By default it's assigned to file globalProperties.json and I suppose this is
file you're looking for.

To use other recipe than those defined in globalProperties.json just edit it.
In case you don't want to build new image you can pass external params to
spring app. Here you have documentation:
https://docs.spring.io/spring-boot/docs/current/reference/html/boot-features-external-config.html

24. Externalized Configuration - Spring
Framework<https://docs.spring.io/spring-boot/docs/current/reference/html/boot-features-external-config.html>
docs.spring.io
Spring Boot lets you externalize your configuration so that you can work with
the same application code in different environments. You can use properties
files, YAML files, environment variables, and command-line arguments to
externalize configuration.

If you're using OOM external parameters are passed to clamp already. Check out
file oom/kubernetes/clamp/values.yaml.
You can base on clamp.config.files.sdcController.

[onap-discuss] [Policy][Control-loop] Delay Policy Execution

2018-08-24 Thread Xin Miao
Hi, Folks,

Have we ever had a requirement or thought that user can control the execution
of a recipe by some delay, say, delaying some action by certain amount of time
at operational policy execution? And it can be controlled through Policy
creation/configuration, i. e., by adding in another dimension/parameter of
'delay time' into operational policy? I have not seen a definition of this or
any examples from the existing use cases.

Any idea?

Re: [onap-discuss] [policy][holmes]CCVPN CL Event

2018-08-21 Thread Xin Miao
One way of addressing this is that in case like this we may ‘provision’
(instead of hard coding) or modeling the policy triggering in a way that
analytics or correlation component in general can publish multiple events
driven by the output of the AAI loop up/query to DMAAP to trigger policy
multiple times one time per service instance.

This could lead to CL requirement that supports any future use cases that one
alarm from lower layer may affect multiple services at higher layer, i. e,
one CL multiple service instances cases.

Some thoughts.

Thanks,

I will not entertain such drastic change which will endanger the use cases that
the Policy team did commit to.

The point of the CL event is to identify the SINGLE VM or VNF that is having
issues. The Operational Policies express what services/vms/vnfs are going to be
taken action upon, not the CL event.

There are many other reasons which I will not go into on this thread.

Hi Pam,

I'm working with the CCVPN team to complete the control loop for the CCVPN use
case. It requires Policy to perform some operations on three service instances.
In this case, how do we put three instances into the CL event in order that
Policy could digest it?

In the VoLTE use case, the CL event is like this:
{
"closedLoopEventClient": "DCAE.HolmesInstance",
"policyVersion": "1.0.0.5",
"policyName": "vVOLTE",
"policyScope":
"resource=volte,service=VolteSErvice,type=SampleType,closedLoopControlName=CL-VOLTE-SIG-d925ed73-8231-4d02-9545-db4e101f88f8",
"target_type": "VM",
"AAI": {
"vserver.vserver-name": "dfw1lb01lb01",
"service-instance.service-instance-id" : "TBD",
"generic-vnf.vnf-id" : "TBD",
"generic-vnf.vnf-name" : "TBD"
},
"closedLoopAlarmStart": 1484677482204798,
"closedLoopEventStatus": "ONSET",
"closedLoopControlName":
"ControlLoop-VOLTE-2179b738-fd36-4843-a71a-a8c24c70c55b",

"requestID": "97964e10-686e-4790-8c45-bdfa61df770f",
"from": "DCAE"
}

Can we use the similar data format, changing only the "AAI" filed from a JSON
object to a JSON array:
{
"closedLoopEventClient": "DCAE.HolmesInstance",
"policyVersion": "1.0.0.5",
"policyName": "CCVPN",
"policyScope":

{
"service-instance.service-instance-id" : "service-instance-1",
...
},
{
"service-instance.service-instance-id" : "service-instance-2",
...
},
{
"service-instance.service-instance-id" : "service-instance-2",
...
}
],
"closedLoopAlarmStart": 1484677482204798,
"closedLoopEventStatus": "ONSET",

"requestID": "97964e10-686e-4790-8c45-bdfa61df770f",
"from": "DCAE"
}

If the answer is negative, how could we achieve our goal?

Abatement is optional C but you should specify that in the policy so the
policy enforcement knows to not wait for it.

We know that sometimes it is difficult in the DCAE side to determine if an
abatement has happened, thus we enabled that option in the Policy Operational
YAML specification.

Just be sure that we don’t get subsequent ONSET’s after we have done all the SO
work. If that is not possible then utilize a Frequency Limiter Guard policy as
a last resort to prevent the whole process from being initiated immediately
after it was done. I would test and develop everything first, see how the
system works before going down that route.

Subject: CL Test Steps for Phase 1

Hi, Rama/Vidya,
The following are the closed loop test steps at runtime:

  * Link between TP1 from site A and TP2 from site B is brought down
  * ACTN from site A sends TP1 Status ‘down’ notification to Restconf
collector and publishes corresponding json notification to DMAAP
  * ACTN from site B sends TP2 Status ‘down’ notification to the same
Restconf collector and publishes corresponding json notification to DMAAP
  * Both of the notifications are consumed by VES Mapper and converted to VES
Fault_Route_Status events.
  * Holmes receives the two events
  * Holmes does correlation of the two events and generate one signature
event and sends it to Policy
  * Policy triggers operational policy and healing action is sent to SO
  * SO deletes the associated 3 service instances.
  * SO recreates these 3 service instances again over a new link between TP3
and TP4 across site A and site B
Need to decide about if the following steps has to be done at the closed loop:
 (may not be necessary ??)

  * Service ‘up’ notifications are sent from ACTN when service is recovered.
  * Holmes does the event correlation and sends Clear signature event to
Policy
  * Policy stops the healing action

Hi,

today, holmes rules in CLAMP is just a drools text. The way mS are configured
is via a policy, so the holmes rules are sent to Holmes(DCAE) via a policy
which will contain the drool text as payload for Holmes configuration.
Today that configuration is also supposed to be for the whole Holmes and not
for a specific Control Loop. This is because of the way Holmes behaves today.

As you can see, the Holmes configuration is an area that needs more design at
this point, that design will need to be done by Holmes/Policy/DCAE and CLAMP
team.

Hi,

Currently collector’s are not deployed on-demand, they are pre-deployed in DCAE
and used by all the mS and all control loops.
So the collector’s, currently, are not deployed via CLAMP and there is no
cloudify blueprint available to do so anyway.
The collector box you see in CLAMP GUI is just a virtual box to show the
control loop flow, in reality there is no configuration made by CLAMP for the
collector(at least at this stage of ONAP, it might change in the future).

Yes, a blueprint can contain multiple nodes, each representing a microservice.
It can also contain one or more policy nodes for each microservice, assuming
that the microservice has been designed to be configured via policy.

Vijay, Lusheng,

I feel your clarifications are lacking some aspects, because a blueprint is
theoretically related to a complete Control-Loop flow and not just One
micro-service.
So can you give even more clarification on that aspect, meaning today is it
possible to have a blueprint representing a complete control-loop flow with
several micro-service ,each of the micro-service being configurable via a
policy?
Also today are those dynamic micro-service configurable by policy? meaning is
there a policy-model existing for each of those micro-service?

Thanks,
Martial

process. A startup script will call Cloudify Manager for deploying preloaded
blueprints, each specifies a set of DCAE service components, and resulting
these DCAE service components launched at this bootstrap. These components can
be managed for configuration and lifecycle by DCAE, but they are not known in
CLAMP and Policy therefore cannot be reconfigured through CLAMP.

Dynamic deployment has been the intention of DCAE and static deployment as
testing methodology for our internal uses. However, because CLMAP has not been
part of the ONAP automated testing and use flows, we use static deployment for
all DCAE service components (including TCA for use cases other than vCPE) for
ONAP R1 and R2 testing flows. Only in R2 the TCA instance used by R2 vCPE use
case is dynamically deployed by CLAMP because that testing flow allows manual
intervention.

For any service components (including the new restconf collector) to be
dynamically deployed, it will need to be on-boarded to SDC. That is, the DCAE
service component’s TOSCA model is added to SDC catalog. Then someone uses SDC
Design Studio to make a DCAE service design. SDC will generate a blueprint
template for as the result and push to DCAE. At run-time someone will use
CLAMP GUI to trigger the deployment of this blueprint.

Because dynamic deployment involves multiple project teams, the best forum for
discussing the details is Pam’s Close Loop subcommittee. Also Ron Shacham
(cc-ed) worked through the TCA for vCPE use case. He would be the person most
knowledgeable in the whole process of walking a blueprint through the steps.

Thanks,
Lusheng Ji

Just to clarify, any services in DCAE can be deployed dynamically. Only TCA is
handled via CLAMP currently though (models/blueprint are pre-loaded in
SDC/CLAMP to distribute/deploy). All the other services when onboarded through
SDC/Tosca_lab can be instantiated dynamically.

For VESCollector, we have blueprint which takes topics an input. This
blueprint can be loaded into SDC catalog manually and distributed by
designer/clamp operator on demand to support specific control loop if required.
However as the collectors are generic (not tied to specific usecase) – they can
be shared across different CL cases as done in R1/R2.

Vijay

Understood. Thanks a lot for the clarification.

How about Policy? CLAMP only creates new policy and deploys them.

Does CLAMP support to create more than one policy chaining (sequential action
type of operational policy )per control loop at design time?

Hi Xin,

I confirm what Adam said. At this stage you will need to create a new blueprint
with the correct DMAAP configuration and then distribute it to CLAMP so that it
can be deployed.

Note that on-demand collector deployment is not supported by DCAE itself at
this point, so it has to be supported by DCAE first before CLAMP can support
it. Also, one Holmes instance per Control Loop is not supported by
Holmes/DCAE, so this is also an area that will need Holmes/DCAE support before
it can be done via CLAMP.

Martial

You're writing that you want to receive different event data so I assume you're
not interested in measurements.
It means you have to use other type of analytic tool (I will call it AT) then
those already available.
It's your AT's responsibility to pull events from DMaaP. From Clamp perspective
it's transparent what's the event type and topic.
Clamp will just send configuration parameters before deployment.
Unfortunately currently using own AT is not supported by Clamp.

Hi Xin,

I will try to answer your question, please someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Deploy of closed loop means that Clamp will send request to DCAE platform to
start new instance of TCA (may be different tool but Clamp UI supports only TCA
and Holmes).

Martial

[onap-discuss] [ves] Build Failure

2017-10-03 Thread Xin Miao
Dcaegen2/collectors/ves build failure:
--
Step to reproduce:

1.   Git clone dcaegen2 from gerrit.onap.org

2.   Git clone dcaegen2/collectors gerrit.onap.org

3.   Git clone dcaegen2/collectors/ves gerrit.onap.org

4. Do maven build - 'mvn clean install' - at dcaegen2
   // Failed without modifying the pom.xml file

5. Do maven build - 'mvn clean install' - at dcaegen2/collectors
 // Failed without modifying the pom.xml file and commenting out the
SETTINGSFILE checking from the *.sh scripts

6. Do maven build - 'mvn clean install' - at dcaegen2/collectors/ves
//  Failure encountered still

All the above were done sequentially after onap/oparent was built successfully
in a clean environment on a Ubuntu server.

Thank you and best regards,
