We were just about to go to a vote on RC2 when everyone was dropped from the bridge. Unable to regain quorum following the disconnect, an email vote must be taken.

Does the TSC approve the recommendations made during the Nov. 27th TSC RC2 Review meeting that all projects pass the RC2 milestone?

Re: [onap-tsc] CALL FOR NOMINATIONS: ONAP TSC ELECTION

2018-08-05 Thread Chen Yan

Dear ONAP Community, I would like to self-nominate for the ONAP TSC election, representing China Telecom (Platinum Service Provider Seat).

In the past 2 years, I have been serving on the open source communities extensively, including the contribution to ODL,working as the Open-O project TSC, and leading China Telecom contributions in ONAP Benchmark sub-Project. Meanwhile our team established ONAP Lab at China Telecom, successfully achieved vCPE use case E2E connection based on ONAP Beijing Release. Also I was the main contact for the past Casablanca Developer Event hosted in Beijing. And currently, I am ONAP EUG member and LFN MAC member, created and kept promoting the ONAP Tencent Channel.

I would enjoy the opportunity to continue working in the ONAP community as a TSC representative, and engage myself in improving ONAP maturity and accelerating its potential adoption by operators as the de-facto automation platform.

Please refer to below link for my Bitergia stats as an active community/code contributor:

I am a Project Manager at China Telecom Beijing Research Institute and have worked in the telecommunications industry for more than 10 years, including the past 4 years focused on SDN/NFV, mobile network and cloud. Currently I am a core member of the team for architecture and service enabling design of future operation support platform. If you do that, you should probably re-assess both your qualifications and motivations for leading a collaborative community such as this.
Your self-nomination email must include a link to your stats in Bitergia (instructions on how to do this). It is strongly recommended that candidates also include a small head-shot, a short biography and statement of intent on why you would be a good person to hold a seat on the TSC.
As a courtesy, it is also requested that you fill in the 2018 TSC Election Candidates wiki page with that same information. Filling out the wiki page is NOT in lieu of sending the email as required, but it will greatly help facilitate the process of the elections.

Special Provision for the original 9 ONAP Operators: There are 9 seats reserved for the nine original ONAP Platinum Service Provider members. Each of these Operators is REQUIRED to have at least one person nominate themselves for their seat on the TSC. If and only if an Operator does not have any eligible Active Community Members at the time of nomination process, they may appoint a nominee to run in the election. In the near future, a Physical Lab is still important and necessary, especially
for operators with intention to deploy operational systems to manage not only
the NFV networks/VNFs but also PNFs.

China Telecom is going to introduce SDN techniques in our Backbone Network,
e.g. Segment routing and TE. In this case, SDN enabled Physical Network and a
corresponding Lab is our scope of works.

I would suggest to build up multiple labs, including Virtual labs and Physical
labs, and solving connectivity issues under integration team/LF governance, in
order to address on different use cases covering most of the operators
interests.

Best Regards

Chen Yan

China Telecom also has a lab for OPEN-O. Based on this lab, China Telecom is
willing to provide a physical lab for ONAP too.

Orange is willing to provide a physical lab with connectivity from remote, or
be part of the set up of the virtual lab.

I think that what is important is to have clear specification of what is
required (Open-O experience would help) asap, so that we can start to
implement. This may be independent from the integration project if it allows us
to be more efficient.

RK

PS: actually, today we have an operation lab that is shared (from our internal
research, our work with universities to our testing for deployment). So the set
up would be done marginally. We need to see the tooling of course.

Chris,

You actually bring up an excellent point. In order to demonstrate and test real
life scenarios we will need to tie in physical equipment.

However, it may not be practical to have all the necessary physical equipment
in the lab. Therefore a more practical approach could be providing connectivity
from the lab to physical equipment located on an operator or vendor premise.
This could be done using some sort of VPN or secure tunnels over the internet.
Consider the vVoLTE use case. It could be possible to test a
