RE: status of OODT-3

2010-06-21 Thread Mccleese, Sean W (388A)
Hey Chris,

The script doesn't currently work on *.xml files, though I certainly could
update it to do so. However, I talked to Andrew a while ago and he indicated it
probably wouldn't be worth it as there are apparently only ten of non-java
files. He seemed pretty confident that he could do them by hand in a short
timeframe, though he can speak more about that than I can.

Thanks for taking on OODT-16, Sean K.!

Hey Sean,

Thanks much. When I said Sean too, I forgot to mention "Sean K." as in kelly.
Sorry for being ambiguous! :) Sean Kelly mentioned he would work on it, so no
worries there. If you wrapped up the *.java files for OODT-3 you are good!

Does your script work on *.xml files and other files too? If so, how hard would
it be to reuse it? Andrew, this question is for you too since I'm interested in
helping to see this issue get wrapped up this week.

Thanks to you both for your work!

Cheers,
Chris

Hey Chris,

Sorry, I thought I sent out a finalizing email last week! My bad.
I finished committing the changes last week, with all correct headers applied
to all *.java files. Andrew Hart said he was going to do the remaining files
(non-java) though I'm not sure of the status on that. I just updated the JIRA
status to be more up-to-date.

I'll get to work on OODT-16 today. Hopefully we can get 0.1-incubating out
ASAP! That would be very exciting.

Hi Sean,

Any update on this? If you don't have time to run the script and commit, no
probs, but can you post it to JIRA so someone else with free cycles can push it
out? With this wrapped up and the last updates to OODT-15 (and with some /nudge
/nudge on OODT-16 from Sean :) ), I think we can push out a first
0.1-incubating release in the next few weeks...

Hey Sean,

You mentioned that you're almost through processing the .java files in
the oodt repo tree. Awesome! Is that checked in yet? Here's what I can
see for non-java work yet to be done: (I will take the lead here unless
someone else is dying to handle this)

There are a limited number of sub-projects that have non-java components:

The curator project has a web application component
(/incubator/oodt/trunk/curator/src/main/webapp) which is written
primarily in JSP, but contains the accompanying css stylesheets and
javascript files. Does your script handle JSP's, or is it strictly .java?

The filemgr project has
python (/incubator/oodt/trunk/filemgr/src/main/python/),
php (/incubator/oodt/trunk/filemgr/src/main/php/),
as well as a number of shell scripts
(/incubator/oodt/trunk/filemgr/src/main/bin).

Furthermore, each project contains a small (<10) number of .xml and
.properties configuration files.

I will update the status of the OODT-3 issue with my progress on the above.

Thanks,
Andrew.

Oh I think you were talking to Andrew sorry I couldn't tell if this was my old

eye when you get time - it's to get the OODT websites up and running at Apache.
We should probably create an issue to make an OODT Apache feather logo, and use
it as the project logo for the MVN sites - WDYT?
