localization) for realisation of AOO-3.5 if it will take place?

You also can assign a keyboard shortcut for this action:

menu "Tools" -> "Customize" -> tab "Keyboard" -> "Category" filed ->
"OpenOffice.org Macros" - "share" -> capitalize.bsh.

Now in the field "Shortcut keys" choose "Shift+F3" (for example) and press
"Modify" button and then "OK"
Now "Shift+F3" is associated to change case of selected text

Sorry, LineBreak seems no need such complicated behaviour as it is now
dispaying as nonprintable character that can be easily seen.

But what about position of ColumnBreak indication and menu
as an example in case of three columns
with it's Breaks before second and third columns?

Could it be a pop-up object with on-mouseover action in position of cursor
over such PageBreak line (to avoid averting of user by permanent presence)?
If of couse it will not be clash with some over actions within top of text

What about the same actions for Line Break and Column Break preferencies?

The current PB is not visiable at all with it's default colour and user don't
see PB until he reaches next page.

IMHO (as user), it's a good and reasonable idea to change representation of PB
and make available the quick changing of this object's propeties.
The realisation described on attached picture looks great :)

so some regressions were arived from previous development Ooo-3.4beta branch

The problem is still here under
AOO340m1 (Build:9589) Rev. 1303653 22 march 2012

for "Get more information about OpenOffice.org" doesn't lead to "Native
Language" internet page

the link is shown now http://www.openoffice.org/?lang=ru

but it's doesn't redirect to http://www.openoffice.org/ru/

The same error there is e.g for the next langpack:

French, German, Italian etc.

Hi Andre,

I think that reson is maybe that the last changes just don't get into last
unofficial developer snapshots are dated by morning of 22-Mar-2012 from 10:45

13:08
(http://people.apache.org/~jsc/developer-snapshots/src_releases/)

while last changes of Russian langpack on the Pootle is dated 2012-03-22 13:28

Genman langpack (last changed on 2012-03-21 18:33 on Pootle server) isn't
affected by this bug.

I hope next snapshot will correct this bug or it worth to try to build russian
langpack with it's current state of translation (if it is possible) and check

It seems they change their site. It's now look different from that was befobe

http://download.services.openoffice.org
(does it still official download link ?)
while curently on official site http://openoffice.mirrorbrain.org download link

Maybe they saw this discussion? It look suspiciously :\
If they curenly supply the Official builds and wiil not change download links
to any different from official mirror when it looks like some advertising
resource.

But the page:
http://www.downloadadmin.com/consumers/general-uninstallation-instructions
confuse me. What Advertiser’s Software is question?
So it is realy safest to use officeial site to dowbload, as Rob said, at least
while the owners of that resouce contact with AOO developers.

There is no any contact information on their page but only the form for
question is there.

Thanks for reply.

Yes, I remember bug 118895 description but the problem is not concern
localization of menu items (its already all correct for me )

but the totaly absence of some menu and options of Print dialog takes place
for most recent both Linux and Windows builds:
AOO340m1 (Build:9589) Rev. 1303653 22 march 2012

and also there are the "wrong resources" for some tabs.
and for Finnish lang pack I'm observing too wide Print dialog window
(for fresh windows build Rev. 1303653)

Does the absence of menu options is realy depending now only from localization
pack?
I see that at least for Russian pack only "OOo_34/basic/source/app.po" need to
be translated since 2012-03-22 13:28.

I'm confuced, does the Print dialog menu depends on it?

Note that for this component in German ("Apache OpenOffice 3.4.x" Pootle tree)
(https://translate.apache.org/de/OOo_34/basic/source/) has 985 words need
attention and translaed and there is no problem with Print dialog windows
while Russian has untranslated 989 words for the same "app.po" and the error
is stiil here.

But if it's realy that "some print options are not shown until certain strings
have been translated" I will wait for translation ending and for new build
taking into account of this.

Thanks once again :)

https://issues.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=119120

as independent or mark second as duplicate of first one?

The fisrt one began as just as "much too wide & has wrong resources"
and in the course of time it's overgrown with new other different issues.
The second part of the fist issue's description is intercrossing with second
part of second issue but the main part of bug "119120" is different.

Anyway, please, mark this defect of Print dialog as "3.4_release_blocker"

I rechecked for this problem for Windows multilanguage installation set
and resulta are:
(also see bugtracker)

--
Is Affected by bug:

1. Chinese (simplified) yes (seems only Writer)
2. Chinese (traditional)yes (seems only Writer)
3. Chechno
4. Dutch (Netherland) no
5. Finnish no (but it has too long dialog Print window)
6. French (France) yes
7. German (Germany) no
8. Hungarianyes
9. Italian (Italy) yes (seems only Writer)
10. Japaneseyes
11. Portuguese (Brazil) yes (also many menu items are not translated!)
and it has strange Print - OpenOffice.prg Math tab-menu

12. Russian yes
13. Spanish (Spain) yes

Also please check (as I don't know languages from the all list) the correspond
tab-menu of Print dialog such as OpenOffice.org Writer,
OpenOffice.org Calc, OpenOffice.org Math etc. (especialy Print - OpenOffice.org
Math
tab-menu
- for some lang. it look like "Page Layout" tab, e.g. for Portuguese (Brazil),
Italian etc.), to correspondence of English menu,
I suggest and it seems there are errors represented of this dialogs. Or it
seems that OpenOffice.org Math tab-menu is replaced for "Page Layout" for some
reason.
And for English and Genram there are no any Page Layout at all for "Math"
Print dialog

---

So most of language packs are suffer from this bug, it seems to be
3.4_release_blocker as it corruptes UI Print Dialog and users can't to print
certaint range of pages and some other tab-menus (such as OpenOffice.org Math)
looks wrong with comparison of English langpack.

2012-03-23 Thread Torokhov Sergey
Hi to all,

I have encounted one problem with User Interface of testing AOO3.4 suite

The problem is concerning Print menu for Russian lang pack (with English lang
User Interface activated the problem does't take place)

Maybe it can subject some other lagguage pack.

For more detailes see https://issues.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=119120
with it's attachment.

It seems like rather serious UI deffect.

By the way, when will be changed internal names of headers and names of menu
items ? They are still (AOO340m1 (Build:9589) Rev. 1303653 от 22 march 2012)
maned OpenOffice.org

e.g.
1. menu "Help" - OpenOffice.org Help
2. header of "Help" window
3. some names of menu items in "Tools" - "Opetions" - "OpenOffice.org..." (and
the other as "OpenOffice.org Writer" etc. below)

and maybe some other places.

Well... it's good news as there is an external patch.

But for Gentoo Linux users as OpenOffice-3.3.0 was delivered only as just
binary
file "OOo_3.3.0_Linux_x86-64_install-rpm-wJRE_en-US.tar.gz" from official
OpenOffice.org site.

So now there is only fast and simple way to escape this vulnerability for
Gentoo users - using current binary build of Apach Open Office 3.4 beta
unpacked
to "/opt" directory for example.

Concerning docx-import (and ooxml at all):

Could anybody clarify the situation with the current status of docx-import
(ooxml), that is what is (or what OLE-objects) currently suported during
import of .docx document format?

I understand that in spite of long list of bugs/issues (see below) where is no
regression (as some of functions are not suppoted yet) and so they are not
release-blockers.
But unfortunately there are so many issues maybe some of them are due to some
diffences of saving of formats of MS Word 2007 and MS Word 2010 *.docx.

I don't exactly understand does it concerning language pack too or not
and if it does, could you represent please the list of files need to be changed
in the language pack (or/and in base packet for localisation) that involved
this bug.

And If you could refer the changes of such files was implemented as it
accelerate resolving for other language.

Thanks for corrections,

but maybe it's better to place it under "New Features from OpenOffice 3.4 beta"

Currently it is placed in "New Features for Apache OpenOffice 3.4" section.

I just run ./simpress , create new presentation, go to menu "Insert" - "Movie
and Sound", choose *.avi file (and even *.mp3, *.mp4 or even *.flv from youtube
such as "Sintel" movie - by choosing to show all files) and press "play" button
at bottom panel of Impress that appeared then just inserted video is
selected,
or just press F5 key (menu "View" - "Start Slideshow") to see presentation.

After pressing "play" of F5 video start to playback.

I don't remember exactly where I read about it for some years ago, but this
news was also described in linuxjournal.com in July 2010

As article refered that it is common feature for multimedia and it seems that
Sun's JMF was not upgrade since 2003 year.

So, I'll try, sorry for my grammar. It could be described for Release Notes
as:

New Features from OpenOffice 3.4 beta
Linux improvement: New multimedia framework

- Gstreamer is available now to use instead/besides of Sun's Java Media
Framework (JMF) to playback multimedia content in AOO documents (e.g. audio
and video in Impress presentations).
Note that Gstreamer (with the appropriate gst-plugins) need be installed in
system.

But I'm alerted by some text of linuxjournal.com article:

"Distribution developers can disable this support by choice if desired and
cause OpenOffice.org to revert to using Java."

So I don't know is there a possibility to use Sun's JMF now at all but due to
it's bad support for widespread multimedia formats it seems useless now for
most users. So it could be also described as (but maybe AOO is stiil support
JMF).

Maybe it is worth to remove any mentions about JMF from description at all:

- Gstreamer is available now to use to playback multimedia content in AOO
documents (e.g. audio and video in Impress presentations).
Note that Gstreamer (with the appropriate gst-plugins) need to be installed in
system.

Release Notes doesn't mention about new feature of AOO Impress for Linux (video playing via gst-plugins)

2012-03-17 Thread Torokhov Sergey
Hi to all!

I looked over the "AOO 3.4 Release Notes"
and don't found any mention about implementation of one very remarcable
feature OpenOffice Impress in Linux systems.

Early videoplaying in presentation was available only though
1. Java Media Frameworks (JMF) - but it had very poor number of supported
formats.
2. or via external shell scripts
(http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Documentation/How_Tos/Using_Movies_in_Impress_on_Linux_Without_Java)
which run external video player with specified options.

In the Oracle OpenOffice 3.4 beta (and I check that it works with current
Apache OpenOffice 3.4 build) it is now avalable to play video in Impress
presentation via using appropriate gst-plugins.

Please, add information about this new feature to "Release Notes"
("New Features from OpenOffice 3.4 beta" section).

It will be a good news for many users as it is not supported in OpenOffice
3.3.0
and in more early versions.

OOo_3.4.0_Linux_x86-64_install-deb_en-US.tar.gz
OOo_3.4.0_Linux_x86-64_langpack-deb_ru.tar.gz

After unpacking I start AOO and changed in options User Interface language to
Russian (my native) and restart "./soffice":

Then I run "./soffice" again and see a "Welcome Screen"
at bottom of it are placed :

- Get more templates for OpenOffice.org
- Add a new features to OpenOffice.org
- Get more information about OpenOffice.org

When I click fisrt one my browser redirected me to

http://templates.services.openoffice.org/?lang=en-US (note the "?lang=en-US")

but the Russian language was determined correct in the upper right conner
language menu, so there is no problem and page is displayed in russian
language.

The second contains only English, German and French, so loading Eng page is
normal for that situation.

But clicking the third one (Get more information about OpenOffice.org) redirect
to

http://www.openoffice.org/?lang=en-US

instead of

http://www.openoffice.org/ru/

that is listed on http://www.openoffice.org/projects/native-lang.html page

Substitution for ?lang=ru in the http://www.openoffice.org/?lang=en-US
doesn't lead to positive result and doesn't redirect to native lang. page

Maybe such behaviour takes place for other language too as all Native-lang
pages links on http://www.openoffice.org/projects/native-lang.html
look like http://www.openoffice.org/ru/, http://www.openoffice.org/de/,

I'm waiting impatiently for the final 3.4 release and hope it will be stable
